Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1967 Volkswagen Beetle.
Finished in orange with a black interior, this Beetle was fully
restored in 2008 by Earl Mann's Bug Shop in Ardmore, Oklahoma,
fewer than 10,000 miles ago. In addition to complete paint, body
and interior, the restoration also included a new engine and
rebuilt transmission.
This Beetle has known ownership history dating to 1971, complete
records documenting the restoration, and comprehensive service
records since. There are a few very minor flaws in the paint (one
small crack in the paint on the engine lid, one small bend in the
front bumper) but overall this Beetle still presents very well.
Minilite-style American Eagle alloy wheels are wearing Continental
tires. Underside looks great with no known rust.
Interior was fully restored with new deluxe tweed seat upholstery,
door panels, carpets and headliner in 2008, and presently shows no
discernible wear. Hand-crank sunroof works properly. Aftermarket
underdash A/C system works for a few days with a R134a recharge,
but has a slow leak (we think from the condenser). Modern AM/FM/CD
stereo with USB, bluetooth and aux input is wired to four speakers
and sounds great.
During the restoration a factory new 1600 cc AS41 dual port
magnesium engine was installed; it now has just under 9,000 miles
and runs great. Upgrades include a high-capacity oil sump and
Pertronix electronic ignition. The transmission was rebuilt at the
same time, and both the gearbox and shift linkage feel particularly
good on this car (in 2024 it got a new clutch, pressure plate, and
throw-out bearing). Four-wheel disk brakes. Two-inch-narrowed front
beam and tie rod set. Adjustable spring plates. It feels
considerably quicker than most Beetles, and the handling
characteristics are quite sporty. But if the front is set too low
for your liking (or for the streets you typically drive), thanks to
the torsion bar suspension, the ride height can easily be adjusted
to your individual preference.
This Beetle checks all of the right boxes for the enthusiast -
factory sunroof, air-conditioning, and fewer than 10,000 miles on a
complete restoration by a well-regarded shop. For more information
