Vehicle Description
1993 GMC Suburban 2500 4x4
"Seated comfortably behind the wheel of a GMC Truck, your first
sensation is a feeling of almost omnipotent capability. The benefit
of a seating position that places you a bit above it all and endows
you with a heightened sense of reassuring command and control. A
perception that becomes reality as you drive your GMC Truck.
Highway lines that once denoted the outer limits of your travel
suddenly become gateways to freedom and adventure entered into by
the mere push of a button. Loads once left behind with lesser
vehicles are now effortlessly accommodated. " From the 1993 GMC
truck brochure
For consignment, a 1993 GMC Suburban 2500 4x4 with a title verified
171,456 actual miles and more new parts than the bionic man.
Bumpers, lights, windshield, dash and trim panels, carpet,
headliner, (re-covered), weather stripping, brake lines, brakes,
fuel sending unit and lines, serpentine belts, pulleys, alternator,
all newer!
Exterior
A striking sandwich of silver between long stretches of black paint
does nothing to mask the sheer size of this GMC's, more than 18
feet of stamped steel, roadworthy goodness. A double gold pinstripe
under the top black portion is a subtle bit of styling while a
black running board extends proportions between the wheels. Up
front, GMC's stacked lights between a flush black grille and on
this truck, a cowl hood rises above it all. A wide band of windows
creates an open greenhouse, tempered by tint but providing a clear
view of the world outside for all occupants. Not enough storage in
the way back? A roof rack is ready and waiting for the extra gear
and while we're up here, we note some checking and oxidation in the
sun faded surface. Beyond that, there are remarkably few blemishes
on this truck and we could find no glaring imperfections. 16-inch
wheels wear LT265/75R16 AXT tires, ready to take on the world with
10 ply domination.
Interior
Just as with the outside, the inside belies the mileage on the
truck, clean and tidy with nowhere near the wear you'd expect to
see. Various shades of gray adorn the interior beginning with the
door panels with cloth tops over carpeted lowers and standard GM
switches in textured gray plastic. Up front, bench seats,
essentially captains chairs, sit high and also wear gray cloth, the
driver's seat showing slight compression and a touch of
discoloration but otherwise in very good condition. Row 2 is a
60/40 split bench, well padded and clean and row 3 is a straight
bench with sizable storage shelves on each side, topping the inner
fender wells. A standard GMC steering wheel fronts a basic
instrument cluster, pure analog 90's and simple. A Kenwood AM/FM/CD
with USB and aux capability brings things into the 21stcentury, but
only briefly as the floor mounted range selector brings it all
back, sitting on low pile gray carpet that is clean and protected
by rubber mats. An overhead console provides rear air controls,
cubbies for sunglasses and a garage door opener and a plush, gray
headliner rises above cleanly. Gray carpet also provides coverage
for the cargo area and is clean and will have you wondering if an
extra digit was added to the mileage!
Drivetrain
Under the hood, an original looking 454ci V8 with electronic fuel
injection and mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission that along
with a transfer case, sends power front and back where it finds
3.73 gears. Naturally, power brakes are on board for this big
hauler, with disc up front and drums in the rear. The engine bay is
in very clean condition and it's clear someone pampered this
truck.
Undercarriage
Plenty of surface rust underneath and some residual oil, but the
knuckles are clean, and the truck is free of obvious invasive rust.
The single exhaust still flows through a stock style muffler and
exists behind the left rear wheel. Suspension consists of torsion
bars up front and leaf springs in the back.
Drive-Ability
With a freshened interior and clean exterior, it feels like 1993
all over again as we crank the big 454 to life and roll out onto
the test loop. It's smooth sailing in this land yacht that tracks
straight, provides fine acceleration, and instills a feeling of
confidence and safety in its size. The ABS light is on, common for
early 90's GMCs, and the power mirrors do not move to the right.
Beyond that, all functions on board operate as they should. While
Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at
the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions
will be working at the time of your purchase.
Here is your family hauler, race team support vehicle, backroads
luxury ride, or Costco sized grocery getter. A comfortable Suburban
with three rows, freshened inside and out, and in good condition.
Plus, it's got a hitch and electrical hook up in the back which
only expands its capabilities. For those who don't remember, 1993
was 32 years ago! So, this is practically a classic but a usable
utility vehicle as well.
