Matching-Numbers Engine
Debuting at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961, the Jaguar E-Type
stunned the world with its revolutionary design and engineering.
Featuring a lightweight monocoque construction, twin-cam 3.8-litre
engine, four-wheel disc brakes, and independent suspension, the
earliest E-Types are the most desirable among collectors. These
early models boast unique attributes, including welded-in hood
louvers, flat floors, and a free-revving powertrain.
This exceptional example, the 221st left-hand-drive fixed-head
coupe built, benefits from all these sought-after features.
Completed on November 21, 1961, it left the factory in the stunning
combination of Opalescent Bronze over Red and was originally
dispatched to Jaguar Cars of New York, where it found its first
owner.
In 2011, New Forest Classic Cars, renowned specialists in Jaguar
restorations, acquired this E-Type. Between 2013 and 2015, it
underwent an extensive 2,800-hour restoration, meticulously
documented with over 670 photographs and receipts totaling nearly
$300,000. The exceptional level of craftsmanship is
unmistakable-the car looks as if it were completed only yesterday
and is ready for any concours.
According to the accompanying Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT)
Certificate, this E-Type retains its matching-numbers engine,
adding to its authenticity and value. Presented in its original
specification and fitted with a set of outside-laced wire wheels,
this early-production Series I E-Type remains as breathtaking and
sought-after today as it was 64 years ago.
