Lots of positives here despite it's cosmetic challenges. Here we have one of the last great, full size convertibles. Just about 7100 built for the 1975 model year. Original Crimson Red car with a dark red vinyl bench seat interior.
A BRAND NEW full convertible top in black (A $3800 expense!). The scissor top mechanicals were all lubed and adjusted at the same time. These are a somewhat complicated setup so this is a huge plus! A brand new red carpet was also installed. A perfect dashboard with no cracks and still holding it's original AM/FM Delco radio. No butchered dash for an aftermarket stereo in this one. A working aftermarket 1990's vintage stereo is mounted under the dash and working. A somewhat base car with less to break. No A/C, cruise or tilt. Crank windows and manual locks.
A 350 V8 resides under the hood and runs terrific. Fresh full tune-up, rebuilt carburator and aluminum radiator with an engine coolant flush. You could drive this car with confidence anywhere.
Cosmetically the car is not without fault. Lots of sun fade, oxidation, small scratches and lower panel corrosion. Not a rust bucket by any means but also not rust free. The right rear 1/4 panel is probably the most affected but even that isn't horrible. The undercarriage is mostly clean with a super solid and clean frame. Floor pans aren't bad with the exception of the left rear pan. Several small holes present there. An easy fix. The original interior is just okay. Lots of vinyl sun fade and splits. Not trashed but not great. Serviceable as is though. As mentioned, the carpet is brand new and the door panels and dash are clean and crack free. Very presentable as is.
So here is a great entry level convertible. Very affordable and drivable. A turn key classic. These cars are highly sought after and restored or original low mileage examples trade for tens of thousands of dollars. It's not easy to find one that is affordable but still suited for immediate use and enjoyment. Fix and paint the body or drive it and enjoy it as is.
