Vehicle Description
Regarded by many Ford enthusiasts as one of the finest designs to
own, the 1934 model year is quite the prize for any collector!
Superb body lines, raked front grill with wide surround, vertical
hood slats with two release levers instead of one, and slightly
smaller headlights & cowl lamps made for an incredibly handsome car
that mimicked much more expensive vehicles of the same era. An
increase in V8 engine performance to 85 horsepower didn't hurt
sales either!
We are very pleased to offer this rare 1934 Ford Model 40B Deluxe
Phaeton. Tastefully finished in Black with Dark Brown Leather
interior, this example was professionally restored to be shown and
judged to the highest standards. Powering this all-steel Phaeton is
an original and fully rebuilt 221ci Flathead V8 with Stromberg
carburetion and 3-speed manual transmission drivetrain. Other
features include Tacoma Cream wire wheels with chrome hubcaps,
matching cream pinstripes, Firestone Deluxe Champion black sidewall
tires, cowl ventilation, rear-mounted spare with steel cover, full
set of canvass side curtains with storage bag, rear convertible top
boot cover also with storage bag, bumper guards, date-coded 1934
Ford Safety Glass & wind wings, vacuum-powered wiper, tilt-out
front windshield, cigar lighter & ashtray, beveled rearview mirror,
correct twin chrome horns & cowl lights, and fitted vinyl floor
matting.
A very solid body and frame, along with a great running engine and
wonderful driving capabilities, make this a must have for any
serious Ford Collector! The restoration of this Phaeton was
completed in approximately 2001. The frame has been meticulously
rebuilt and fully repainted with show quality results! The paint is
absolutely beautiful highlighted perfectly with hand-painted
pinstripes along the body trim moldings! The interior leather
remains in terrific condition with no tears or rips and really
compliments the outside color very well. The interior wood graining
is top notch! The convertible top and side curtains are absolutely
brand new from Lebanon Bonney and fit perfectly! All window glass
remains 1934 date-code correct, as well as detailed under hood
presentation with correct splash pans, cowl body tags,
cloth-covering wiring, air breather sticker, and more!
Upon its completion, it received its AACA Senior National First
Prize in 2001 and AACA Grand National First Prize in 2006 scoring a
minimum of 390/400 points. It also participated in the Early Ford
V8 Club of America national judging earning 950/1000 points to
achieve a Dearborn Award. All honors are proudly displayed on the
front license plate frame! The odometer today reads just 88 miles,
which was reset in 2001, and clearly trailered to events. It has
always been collector-owned and cared for, with climate-controlled
storage and yearly servicing. The car continues to start with utter
ease, running and driving just great! The transmission is tight
with excellent clutch engagement without any vibrations. It retains
its original Model 40 aluminum heads and intake along with
Stromberg carburetion which further adds to its incredible
investment. Included with the sale is a reproduction Ford
Instruction Manual.
