In 1976 the 2nd owner sent it to a restoration shop in New Hampshire. Mike Wooster Restorations (Ford Woodies) of Dublin, New Hampshire and Bob Young of Sharon, New Hampshire a Well Renowned Wood Restoration Specialist. A ground up restoration was done on the vehicle; sandblasted, primed with self-etching primer, red oxide primer over that and standard grey primer with chasiss satin black finish. All metal parts were finished the same way. All mechanicals, brakes, hoses, drums, shoes, and installed rebuilt stock over drive tranny were replaced with NOS or OOS parts. New custom wiring harness was made to original standard and again all NOS or OOS electrical parts. The flat head six cylinder engine was totally rebuilt at 69,928 miles and NOW has 77,000+ with hardened valves, cylinders, and valve guides so that the use of ethanol gasoline can be used.
The vehicle was then painted with regal maroon acrylic enamel paint, as wood was being prepared for re-assembly, which 80% is still original wood (Ash & Maple Panels) which have included six coats of Miniwax Helmsman Marine Satin urethane all hand sanded in between coats and finished w/ 0000 steel wool on final coat. The seats were completely done in the original style and are brown w/ red piping and vinyl grained roof was added as an improvement over the original painters canvas and horsehair jute, rebuilt stock radios/speakers and deluxe heater, with defrost.
Since restoration was completed, I have added a New Factory rebuilt Carb and a new rebuilt master cylinder from White Post Restoration. the fuel pump was rebuilt by Gould rebuilders in N.Y. State and is mechanical. I've added an electrical fuel pump. Replaced exhaust system with HIGH HEAT paint for longevity.
The car has won numerous best of show awards and people just seem to gravitate to the ol' woodie. 90% of the time I'm at a car show I'm the only woodie there.
I have collected a plethora of new articles, advertisements, shop manuals and additional literature which I grabbed at every opportunity as well as many extra parts whenever budget permitted. I have every single invoice for parts and labor expense of restoration as well as additional receipts for work completed after restoration. I also have a picture book of the woodie being reassembled from the frame up. I have owned the car for forty-seven years and have found that it is my pride and joy with many fond memories to my wife and myself. I would never be able to replace this vehicle as it is. Only one of 18 known to exist as per the National Woodie Club register dated 1/1/25.
