Vehicle Description
Unlike so many sports cars that have come and gone through the
autoverse, the fifth-generation Corvette's design has remarkably
stood the test of time. Sporty, sleek, with just enough elegant
attitude, the C5 has been the benchmark of the modern Corvette
since it debuted in 1997. This particular 2004 Chevrolet Corvette
Commemorative Edition, with its mere 6,839 actual miles on its
odometer, is not only decked out in its eye-catching Le Mans Blue
metallic, which was only available for 2004, but this model year
also represents the final iteration of the C5 Corvette.
Underneath that removable targa top, inside we find an original and
correct beige leather interior that features dual power seats
embroidered with the Crossed Flags emblem, dual-zone air
conditioning, power mirrors, locks, and windows, along with a power
telescoping padded four-spoke steering wheel. A Bose AM/FM/CD
stereo keeps the soundtrack going, while the Heads-Up Display
allows the driver to keep their eyes fixed on the road while being
constantly informed of all the pertinent info the 'Vette has to
share.
Under the signature front-hinged hood of this C5, we find a
5.7-liter aluminum block and heads LS1 V-8 that, when new, produced
a stout 350 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. With its added
cold-air intake, long tube headers, and Corsa exhaust, this car
undoubtedly can add to that stock number easily. From the engine,
power is routed through a tried-and-true Tremec T56 six-speed
manual transmission before heading out to the 3.42-geared rear end
where those ponies are transposed to pavement, as the rubber
famously, and literally, meets the road.
