Vehicle Description
This 1940 Mercury custom convertible underwent extensive
modifications, including body removal, frame blasting, boxing and
the addition of a Mustang II front end. It is powered by a cammed
LS1 Corvette 350ci V8 engine equipped with C&C ported heads, a
Sniper EFI intake, heavy-duty valve springs and a Billet
Specialties billet drive system. The engine pairs with a 4L60E
4-speed automatic transmission and a Ford 8.8-inch Truetrac rear
end with 3.73 gears. The suspension system features
4-link/coilovers, tubular A-arms, adjustable shocks, Wilwood
11.76-inch front disc brakes, rear Wilwood disc brakes and Flaming
River power rack & pinion steering. Additional features include a
water pump, alternator, power steering pump and a Vintage Air
system. The body incorporates widened rear fenders, tubbed inner
fenders and custom running boards inspired by 1936-47 Lincoln turn
indicators. A custom Haartz fabric top with stainless-steel
clampdowns and pins was installed. The car rides on Budnik wheels,
17x8-inch front and 18x10-inch rear, wrapped in Nitto tires. The
custom interior features Dynamat lining throughout, a
computer-designed and milled billet aluminum dashboard with Classic
Instruments gauges tilted toward the driver, and leather bucket
seats. The rear seat and trunk were fully customized to match the
red and black theme. The LED accent lighting, bound red carpets and
1941 Mercury power windows in custom stainless vent assemblies
complete the design. The vehicle's stereo system features 6.5-inch
Hertz front speakers, 6x9-inch rear speakers and 1,000-watt Audison
amplifiers for outstanding sound quality. Blending classic
aesthetics with modern performance and technology, the entire car,
including the dashboard, was painted in shiny black in 2021.
