Vehicle Description
"The 1967 model year was the debut year for the Plymouth Belvedere
GTX, which most enthusiasts simply know as the Plymouth GTX. The
GTX was always one of the top performers in the 1960s, but was also
a refined muscle car, receiving the nickname "The Gentleman's
Muscle Car" in its early years. Unfortunately, the GTX was a late
arrival to the muscle car era and only lasted five model years."
-Bill Sefton
This Plymouth GTX Convertible was configured from the factory with
a 440 cubic inch motor and an automatic transmission, it now
features the legendary 426 cubic inch Hemi motor with an A833 four
speed manual transmission and a Hurst shifter. This GTX convertible
was originally dark green metallic with a white and black
interior.
Restored in the early 90's this GTX was transformed using an era
correct 426ci Hemi and four speed manual transmission. At the time
of the mechanical transformation this GTX also went under a
thorough cosmetic restoration with an exterior and interior color
change. This convertible GTX is now featured in "Richard Petty
Blue" exterior and complemented with a Pearl White interior and
white convertible power top.
The Hemi transformation features a Holley carburetor sitting on an
aluminum manifold. The engine breathes through cast iron exhaust
manifolds connected to a dual exhaust system with chrome tips. The
Hemi engine is well balanced and runs strong as you are shifting
smoothly through the four-speed transmission.
The blue paint shows well with no sign of the color change,
including the jams, trunk and engine bay. Without reading the
fender tag there is no evidence of the change. The Pearl White
interior with front bucket seats and floor mounted shifter show
well throughout.
This GTX convertible is riding on older tires mounted on 15" alloy
wheels.
If you are looking for a Plymouth GTX with a Hemi motor and a four
speed but it is unobtainable this GTX is your next best option.
Without decoding this car, you would be hard pressed to determine
this was not a factory original drivetrain.
