Designed at the behest of US Porsche Importer, Max Hoffman, the 356 Speedster was released as a lower-cost, more track-oriented variant of the 356. With a choice of several engines with outputs ranging from 60hp to 100hp, a shorter windscreen, removable windows, and other distinctive elements, Speedsters have become one of the most iconic shapes in Porsche’s history. As such, values for original Speedsters are some of the highest of any Porsche of the period.
There are quite a few replicas and “Kit Cars” being produced and sold. The quality can vary dramatically. The BECK® replicas are all bespoke built high quality recreations of the famous race cars of the 50s and 60s and are fully assembled in House by expert craftsmen. They all feature specially engineered chassis, designed by Chuck Beck, and made to provide a driving experience that outperforms the originals. The bodies feature a hand laminated one piece composite construction, unmatched in the industry. Every build is carefully hand assembled in an old world fashion using only the highest quality materials and customized to your specification.
This particular BECK Speedster was completed on 8/30/05, #148 produced. It was Highly optioned with the powerful 2.4 liter Flat 4 making more than double the Horsepower of an original Speedster. It is equipped with dual Weber downdraft Carbs and tuned exhaust. Backed by a fully synchronized 4 speed manual transmission. It has 4 wheel disc brakes and Porsche “C” style 5.5″ rims with Vredstein tires.
Finished in “Amulet red” the paint still shines like new with only very minor imperfections from use over is original 4657 miles traveled (7495KM)(minor flaws are detailed in the photo gallery.) Interior is finished in Genuine Bisque Leather and Carpets with natural Coco Mats. It comes with a tan folding top, side windows, and a full tonneau cover that covers the interior.
Additional options include Marchal Driving lamps, custom Stereo, stone guards, and a removeable luggage rack with Leather suitcase. (currently not installed)
The Beck Speedsters are unsurpassed in quality, this is a fine example ready to enjoy. Titled correctly as a “1957 Porsche Speedster.”
