Per the original Porsche Maintenance Record booklet,
dealer-recorded services are recorded from 1973 to 1978 from 20
miles to 38,690 miles. In the early 1990s, this 911S was owned by
Bill Perrone, the owner of the Parts Shop in Huntington Beach,
California, and was in original condition. Perrone kept the 911S
until 2004. Porsche specialist TLG Auto in North Hollywood,
California, performed a full restoration, and Autobahn Interior in
San Deigo, California, did the upholstery work.
The 2.4-liter engine was completely resealed by Mobile Works West
in Grass Valley, California, in 2010. A major comprehensive service
was performed by Dugan Enterprises in Oceanside, California,
including, new valve cover gaskets, a clutch, new front and rear
main seals, adjusting the injection timing, rebuilding the
alternator, replacing the fan belt, installing a rebuilt steering
rack, new tie rods, new front ball joints, axle boots, overhaul the
windshield washer system, replace engine oil thermostat lines and
repaired the hand throttle, over $10,000 spent. Dugan Enterprises
performed meticulous service work from 2014 to 2017. Recent service
was conducted in October of 2024 by Air Cooled Classics in
Knoxville, Tennessee, including the replacement of the dual
batteries, oil and filter change, new fuel filter, brake fluid
flush, fresh gear oil, new spark plugs, and a valve adjustment.
Mechanically powered by the matching driveline, which includes a
2.4-liter flat-six-cylinder engine with a Bosch Mechanical Fuel
Injection system (MFI) producing 190 horsepower at 6500 rpm with
158 lb-ft of torque at 5200 rpm with a max rpm of 7300, a
smooth-shifting manual 5-speed transmission (Type 915), a 4-wheel
independent suspension with four-wheel disc brakes. This 911S is a
Rocketship; it runs and drives unbelievably well, the way it
should. There will be no disappointments.
This is an exceptional 1973 Porsche 911S 2.4-liter MFI Sunroof
Coupe and was the last year of the most powerful early long-hood
911S! Beautiful paint and interior finished in the original color
combination of Silver Metallic with a Black interior, per the
Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche with all matching numbers.
The undercarriage is solid and rust-free, with original floor pans
and front suspension. Only 1430 "911S" Coupes were built in 1973.
The electric sunroof was a special ordered option that was an
additional cost of $500 (approximately 10% where special ordered
with the electric sunroof option). Complete with a jack, tool kit,
Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and service records. This is
truly a rare opportunity to own a well-optioned 2.4-liter 911S
offered in a desirable color combination with its original
driveline that is getting harder to find and is increasing in
value.
