This is a Running and driving project BMW 2002 bodyman's dream; Purchased in San Jose, Ca, from a farmer that was going to restore it with his son, but sadly his son got tempted to the 'dark side' and bought a Datsun 510, and I am in the same position. My nephew wants to work on a Porsche instead, its his pocketbook now.
Here are the details on the BMW;
a) BODY = It has a clean title, very straight body, all doors and trunk open - shut properly, AND the doors and trunk lock with both keys, paint has seen better days, the car was kept under a cover for a few years, ==so there are rust holes in various areas around the body, but amazingly = the rocker panels and floor pan are all solid, as is the spare tire well. The sunroof opens and closes, needs to be serviced,
b) INTERIOR= The interior is complete, with all seats, it has factory AIR CONDITIONING, ... = and it has organic a/c, ALL windows intact, and function, back glass was removed for pictures, and is back in the car,
b) ENGINE- TRANSMISSION; engine runs very strong, with no eminent leaks, or smoking, TRANSMISSION shifts smoothly without any grinds, clutch is tight, no ominous sounds from either, when driven, we drive this about once a week, and its a fun car to be able drive and restore at the same time. needs newer tires to be road worthy
c) ELECTRICAL; lights, blinkers, and wipers work,
that is about 90% of what I know,=if you wish to register this in California, you'll have to get it smogged, on your time, selling AS IS, nothing has been removed from the engine. NO SERVICE RECORDS available, new battery, and oil service, DMV fees due for California.
