The BMW M3 is the high-performance variant of the BMW 3 Series,
meticulously crafted by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH.
Since the debut of the E30 M3 in 1986, M3 models have been produced
for every generation of the 3 Series. Initially released in a coupe
body style, a convertible variant soon followed. M3 Sedans were
offered during the E36 (1994-1999) and E90 (2008-2012) generations.
Since 2014, the M3 has been exclusively produced in sedan form, as
the coupe and convertible models transitioned to the 4 Series
lineup, with the high-performance variant now known as the M4.
Enhancements over standard 3 Series models encompass superior
engines, refined handling, upgraded brakes, improved aerodynamics,
lightweight materials, and various interior enhancements. One of
the M3's most significant contributions to both driver safety and
performance is BMW's ongoing development of its limited-slip
differential, engineered to optimize torque and grip without
