This 1931 Rolls-Royce is located for sale in San Diego, California at Motor Car Company. The Coachwork was done by Barker in London, England and it was ordered new in 1931 by Douglas Fairbanks for his wife, Mary Pickford. Douglas Fairbanks was an actor and filmmaker best known for being the first actor to play the masked Zorro. Mary Pickford was also a talented actress and producer that inspired many female actresses that followed her. Both Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford are known for being two of the biggest stars of the silent film era. Mary Pickford’s original name was Gladys Mary Smith. Therefore, the vehicle was referred to as “Gladys”. This Rolls-Royce is in concours condition and drives like a dream. The engine is so smooth that you can barely hear it running.
