1956 Lincoln Capri Lincoln was attractively restyled for 1956. It
was based on the XL-500 and XM-800 concept cars. It had hooded
headlights and a bumper-integrated, center horizontal bar grille
with thinner horizontal bars above and below it. Taillight
treatment was similar to last year. Bumper ports beneath the
taillights served as exhaust exits. A full-length tire-level side
molding was incorporated onto the standard fender skirts. All 1956
Lincolns came equipped with power steering, automatic transmission
and dual exhaust. What an awesome beautiful rust-free cruiser from
the 50s. This thing has been pampered and has enjoyed almost 70
years of TLC. Time capsule extraordinaire, beautiful, laser
straight, mostly all original. Body is incredible, its had a
repaint some time ago and still presents exceptionally. The
interior is completely original, drivetrain appears to be as well,
and cruises effortlessly. A surprising amount of power for a
4500-pound car. Purchased new by a Mrs. OG Kip from Fort Madison,
Iowa on Dec.5 1955. The original registration from 1955 is included
(see pictures) as well as a number of subsequent registrations
throughout the 50s and 60s. Power is derived from a 368 CI V-8 and
equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows, power
seat, and more. Riding on a set of period correct Firestone Deluxe
Champion wide white walls, just a beauty. Documentation consisting
of those registrations, the owners manual, an automatic
transmission inspection report from December 55, as well as the
radio manual.
