Elementary and exceptional! I love this car's presentation:
beautiful red on red, old school muscle car with a stunning
restoration! This is taking John DeLorean's idea of a muscle car
even one notch higher. A 400 with a 4-speed in a lightweight,
budget friendly post sedan Tempest. She is basic and she is
beautiful!
EXTERIOR: Polished like a piece of red glass! The fit and finish of
this Tempest are well above average. The panels are precisely
aligned, square and flush with very consistent gaps that are spot
on. The doors close easily with minimal effort. Looking down the
side of the body it is straight as an arrow with smooth contours
and crisp lines. The glass is nice and clear with fresh rubber
seals. The bumpers are both very shiny with refinished chrome. The
trim is straight with a lustrous finish. The front grille,
headlights, and bezels are spotless. The taillights and bezels
appear to be reconditioned originals. The polished splitter exhaust
tips add a little touch of attitude. It's all rolling on a set of
14" body colored steel rims with poverty caps and they are wrapped
in BFGoodrich radial "redline" tires which provides optimal ride
quality and classic styling combined.
INTERIOR: I really like this interior better than the Lemans or
GTO! The red striped cloth with vinyl trim and the white arrowhead
logos are really sharp. It's all been refinished and looks
fantastic. Down low is fresh looking, properly fitting red carpet,
reproduction floor mats and optional deluxe seatbelts in the front.
Up top is a fresh looking white vinyl headliner. My favorite
feature is the Hurst 4-speed sticking out of the floor! In front of
you is a clean original dash area. It's a radio delete which any
self respecting gear head does not need. It does have a tachometer
so you can watch your revs and the sound of the exhaust is your
music! A walnut steering wheel has been added with a nice thick
grip.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: That's a 400 cubic inch motor with a
performance build. On top is an Edelbrock aluminum intake and
carburetor setup. It also has a set of ram air exhaust manifolds,
stock pie pan air cleaner, painted valve covers, power steering,
and the alternator looks new too. The battery is properly secured
and the horn is hooked up. The radiator and clutch fan look fresh
as well. The hoses and belts have all been replaced. Under the hood
is complete with insulation. The fender wells and firewall are both
neatly painted satin black and the original cowl tag is still in
place. The simplicity of this engine bay is a thing of beauty!
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Clean and complete! The underside of the lid,
jamb, and inside the trunk are all neatly painted Grenadier Red
just like the body. The weatherstrip was replaced and it also has a
full-size spare tire with matching steel rim, jack assembly, lug
wrench, and trunk mat.
UNDERSIDE: It is exceptionally clean underneath this car as well.
The front-end steering and suspension looks fresh. Out back the
shocks have been replaced and it has a new fuel system including
the tank. Real nice sounding dual exhaust with stainless steel
Flowmaster mufflers and the optional splitter tips. The brakes have
been serviced and the e-brake assembly is hooked up. Looking up at
the engine it is spotless and has a high torque starter. Handsome
M-20 close ratio Muncie 4 speed manual transmission. This car is as
smooth as a chalkboard. I don't see any rust or signs of patching.
The floors and chassis components are all smooth, painted a satin
black.
With its high-quality fit and finish, this car is exactly how it
presents itself, an honest no frills build that was done the right
way! And that's what I love about this Tempest, it's simple yet
sensational at the same time!
For nearly 30 years, I, Jay Grams, have personally written the
highlights for almost every car in our collection. What I provide
is my professional opinion based on my experience with these
vehicles. However, opinions can vary, and I strongly recommend a
personal inspection to form your own view. Our sales team is always
available to answer any questions you may have. One great option is
to request a personalized walk-around video, where we can showcase
the car and share our team's insights. **Our cars are displayed
within a museum setting. If you are interested in a specific
vehicle, please schedule an appointment with a salesperson to view
it. Without an appointment, there is an admission fee to enter the
showroom. If you decide to purchase a car, your admission will be
refunded, and you'll receive a one-year museum membership.
