Burgundy muscle meets modern performance in the 1965 Pontiac GTO
Convertible Restomod. Few machines command the same level of
respect as Pontiac's original muscle car, and this example ups the
ante with its glossy Burgundy finish that gives off subtle pearl
undertones in direct light. The contrasting black cloth top folds
down to reveal the true open-air experience these machines were
built for. Low and menacing, the muscular body sits perfectly over
18" Intro wheels wrapped in 235/45ZR17 front and 245/45R18 rear
tires. Every curve and line of the legendary GTO silhouette remains
intact, preserving the brutal aesthetic that made these cars
legends from day one.
Parchment and black vinyl create a bold two-tone interior that
balances luxury with performance attitude. The bucket seats offer
firm support while maintaining the classic look expected of a '60s
muscle car. An American Powertrain console shifter sits ready for
action between the seats, providing precise gear selection through
all five speeds. The refinished dash features faux wood accents
that complement the wood steering wheel, while Dakota gauges
display vital information with classic style. Original door cards
and rear paneling maintain period correctness, while the clean
carpets tie the entire cabin together for a cohesive look that
bridges past and present.
Motivating this GTO is a 400 V8 engine that's been upgraded with
Edelbrock Performer aluminum cylinder heads and an Edelbrock single
4-barrel carburetor for serious power. The Tremec 3550 5-speed
manual transmission puts control directly in the driver's hands,
allowing full use of the V8's considerable output. Long tube
headers feed into a dual exhaust system with an H-pipe and
Flowmaster mufflers that produce a signature muscle car soundtrack.
KYB shocks and coil springs provide improved handling dynamics,
while power disc brakes at all four corners deliver stopping power
that matches the substantial go.
