Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is pleased to present this
awesome 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Edition.
The 1978 Indy 500 Pace Car marked the first time a Corvette was
chosen as the pace car for the Indy 500 and happened to be the 25th
anniversary of the Corvette. This well-cared for Corvette is
powered by an 350 CID small block V8 engine, backed by a GM TH350
3-speed automatic. Only 6,502 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car edition
Corvettes were built, ensuring that they will continue to become
harder to find as time goes on and more of them go by the wayside.
The Pace Car edition's special black over silver paint scheme is
highlighted by a red pin stripe just below the separation line
between the black upper and silver lower and mimics the red accent
line at the outer edges of each of the special slotted aluminum
wheels. The Pace Car editions also got a special silver interior,
which included seats that were originally designed for the upcoming
1979 model year Corvettes. Silver mirrored glass T-tops topped off
the black and silver color theme. The 1978 Pace Car Corvettes also
had a special VIN numbering sequence, which was also another
Corvette first. This 1978 Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car will have you
longing to make it to the weekend so you can take it out for a
spin! Additional features and options on this 1978 Corvette Indy
500 Pace Car include Air Conditioning, Aluminum Wheels,
AM/FM/8-Track Radio, Cruise Control, (both sets of) Glass T-tops,
Leather Interior, Power Brakes, Power Locks, Power Steering, Power
Windows, Radial Tires, Rear Window Defroster, Seat Belts, and Tilt
Wheel. Give us a call to make this collectible yours!
