Wow, one of the sleekest automobile designs of all time. Imagine
seeing this on the road in 1936! 89 years later it still has the
same impact. Built by Elegant Motors which is one of the most
respected names in reproduction Speedsters. They combined the
appeal of the 1 million dollar original with reliability and
performance of a GM drive line and chassis.
EXTERIOR: Designed to perfectly mimic the proportions and
craftsmanship of the original. Painted a gorgeous deep ruby red
metallic. It's polished very smooth and glossy. There are several
touch ups and minor flaws if you are looking for them, anyone
walking up to the car is going to see a polished ruby! The body is
solid, even when driving down the road. The doors shut like a new
car. It even has a golf bag door like the originals. The chrome
sparkles. It has chrome headlamps, fog lamps and spotlights.
There's even a set of trumpet air horns on the side of the hood!
The bumpers were rechromed. That speedster windshield is an artful
piece by itself. Then of course it has the faux supercharger pipes
coming out of the hood. The wire wheels sparkle but show some age
if you get up close. We just wrapped them with a brand new set of
the widest white walls we could find. I think the top looks great
on this car. It's a rich ruby cloth with tan edging. A set of glass
windows install in seconds, they help considerably with the wind
but don't expect a tight seal. It also has a matching tonneau cover
that's easy to put on when parked.
INTERIOR: Step inside to a tan leather interior paired with a
woodgrain dash that has a full set of Stuart Warner gauges. Ruby
red carpeting was recently installed. A Lokar shifter on the floor
gives an authentic look. Some nice, upgraded features include tilt
steering, a Bluetooth stereo, a heater, and seatbelts.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Only 4,000 miles on a reliable GM crate motor!
It's a 350-300hp. On top is a polished aluminum intake with an
Edelbrock carb and HEI ignition. It runs cool with help from an
auxiliary electric fan. Features include power steering and power
brakes.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It has recently been professionally carpeted.
The storage is accessible through the golf bag door and the
convertible top door.
UNDERSIDE: It looks like it's running General Motors drive line.
Independent front suspension, GM 4 link suspension in back. The
shocks look new. It has a sturdy boxed frame. Dual exhaust has
Cherry Bomb mufflers giving it that vintage performance car sound.
It has GM disc brakes in front and drum in back, complete with
working e-brake. Looking up at the GM crate motor it's still fresh
and uses a high torque starter. The trans is a good ole reliable
Turbo 350 automatic hooked to a 10 bolt rear.
We actually sold this car about 20 years ago to a gentleman in
Alaska. Legitimately titled as a 1983 Special Construction with a
state issued VIN. No homemade tag or funny business. Everywhere you
look this car has stunning style! Rolling artwork.
For nearly 30 years, I, Jay Grams, have personally written the
highlights for almost every car in our collection. What I provide
is my professional opinion based on my experience with these
vehicles. However, opinions can vary, and I strongly recommend a
personal inspection to form your own view. Our sales team is always
available to answer any questions you may have. One great option is
to request a personalized walk-around video, where we can showcase
the car and share our team's insights. **Our cars are displayed
within a museum setting. If you are interested in a specific
vehicle, please schedule an appointment with a salesperson to view
it. Without an appointment, there is an admission fee to enter the
showroom. If you decide to purchase a car, your admission will be
refunded, and you'll receive a one-year museum membership.
