The 1940's was a very interesting time for vehicle production in
the US. Despite hitting close to 4.7 million vehicles produced in
1940 everything would change when WWII came around. By January 1942
all vehicle production ceased and even for those that had already
ordered vehicles, delivery would never happen. The government
stepped in and due to the need for steel, auto manufacturers were
no longer focused on automotive innovation but building tanks and
other items to support the war efforts. Luckily in late 1945 auto
manufacturers were approved to get back to business. However, they
had not been developing new vehicles so there was very little
change to cars/trucks prior to the war. That is until 1947 when
Chevrolet introduced their first major redesign with their "Advance
Design" series. This design continued until 1955 and remained
mostly unchanged throughout their run. They have become extremely
popular in the classic truck market and have a great look. This
1953 3100 is known as the 5 window which is so desirable that there
are people out there taking the 3 window and adding the quarter
windows to them. They were introduced to eliminate the blind spots
you would experience without them. This is an older restoration but
is still in very good shape and very solid. It is painted in a nice
Green and all rust free. It wears its original chrome grill, chrome
bumpers, chrome mirrors, and trim. The glass on it is all good
including the original style 2 piece windshield. In back, the wood
bed with stainless strips is in good condition with no issues. The
truck sits on its original 16 inch Black painted rims with nice
Chevrolet hubcaps.
Under the hood is a 216 inline 6 cylinder motor that runs well.
Mechanically the truck is mostly stock and has just been gone
through and freshened up. That includes the fuel system and it has
a new tank. The motor is paired with a 3 speed manual transmission
that sends power back to the 10 bolt rear end. Underneath, the
truck is all in good condition with solid pans.
Inside the truck the dash is all painted and mostly stock with its
stock gauges but the original radio has been removed. The
upholstery is done in Brown cloth and it has a bench seat which is
in nice shape.
This is a cool truck that is being offered up at a very reasonable
price.
It's yours for $26,500.00!
