Genuine Shelby GT500 born like you see it. Complete nut and bolt
restoration to factory specs. Documentation includes original
Shelby Automotive invoice and order form, Marti Report, it's listed
in the registry and has a binder of misc. records. It has a great
history being sold new at Horn Williams Motor Co, Dallas TX to Dr
Sheet. Reportedly restored by Wayne Davis in the mid-90s. Then it
became part of The Auto Collection in Vegas. A collector in GA took
ownership of the car and had it completely refreshed by Shelby
experts at Sunset Restorations, he owned it until 2024 and put only
500 miles on it! Believed to have 88,359 original miles since
new.
EXTERIOR: The Shelby styling changes truly separated itself from
the Mustangs. Distinctive fiberglass features were on everything
except the roof and the doors! Up front a wide open grill and a
hood with 5 air ducts feed as much air as possible to the 428. The
extended front fenders, dovetail trunk and quarter panel scoops are
also fiberglass and add to the good looks of this car. Upfront
features correct Lucas fog lamps and in back is a set of sequential
taillights borrowed from the 65 Thunderbird. The body is believed
to be original and is straight with no rust or damage even though
the paint is over 30 years old! The hood is dated 1969 and fits the
fenders really well. Repainted in its beautiful original silver
Jade color that still shows amazingly well. The white reflective
stripe down the sides adds some pop! The jambs are painted slick,
weatherstrips look great. The Shelby and Ford tags are still
attached to the driver's door. It's sitting on correct 15 inch
Shelby 5 spoke wheels wrapped in BFG tires.
INTERIOR: Believed to be an unabused original deluxe interior. In
addition to the high back seats and molded door panels the Shelby
adds a list of unique features. How about a roll bar with
integrated shoulder harnesses, or a unique console with gauges and
toggle switches and Shelby logos throughout. This also has optional
sport deck rear seat, tachometer, and an 8-track player! The
original visor still has the starting instructions attached. The
carpet has the red sewn in mats that match the red stripe in the
seats. Overall, very nice condition especially considering it looks
to be original, not a bunch of reproduction products.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Boy, there's all sorts of greatness in here!
The original VIN number matching 428 CJ ram air motor, factory air
conditioning, power steering and brakes. Yes, VIN # matching! The
VIN is on the back of the motor, we check for these all the time on
Mustangs and I can't remember the last one that matched! The motor
appears stock including the manifolds, finned valve covers, ram air
assembly etc. It is said to be underrated at 335hp and 440 lbs of
torque. All the components look clean and proper. The squirters are
hooked up, battery is secured, stickers are in place etc. The inner
fenders are clean with factory spot welds still evident. All the
metal surfaces are neatly painted. Ready for show and go!
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It's a really clean looking trunk compartment.
Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted slick, the
weatherstrip, decal and latch assembly are clean. The trunk light
even works. Inside is clean metal painted body color and has a
reproduction mat. Because it has the fold down rear seat it also
has a trap door that opens into the interior. It even has the
collapsible spare tire and jack assembly. It is clean and complete
in here!
UNDERSIDE: The underside was made to look factory new. Believed to
have clean original floors resprayed in correct "Slop Gray". The
steering and suspension were completely rebuilt. The fuel system
was replaced. The brake system was restored, lines replaced,
e-brake is hooked up, it has disc in front. The correct style
exhaust still looks fresh and exits in the middle of the valance,
unique to Shelby. Looking up at the motor it is clean and correct.
The C6 automatic is also clean. In back is the correct 9 inch rear
with 3.00 gears.
SERVICE: We inspect and service each car we purchase. Here is this
one's work order: We installed a bigger power valve, we replaced
the fuel pump, radiator, starter relay, door jamb light switch and
battery. We repaired the brake light switch, charged the a/c,
repaired the horn and turn signals. We tightened the inside mirror
and the exhaust.
Shelbys are still being produced today and are still as popular as
ever! Owning an original 1969 is a real special treat. Being
documented, # matching, ground up restored with air conditioning
makes this a blue chip investment!
