The 1990s can easily be considered the Golden Age of Japanese
import cars. Incredibly powerful and technologically advanced
performance cars came from many different manufacturers and used a
myriad of powertrains and configurations. One of those generational
highlights is this 1994 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo we have for you
today. With all but its aftermarket front bumper sporting its
original black exterior paint and a mere 86,153 actual miles on its
odometer, this sleek and sexy silhouette shines with all the flair
that a worthy descendent of the iconic Z-line should.
Inside, this Z shows why it was one of the decade's most exciting
grand touring cars. Plush, supportive black vinyl seats and a
driver-centric cockpit keep things simple and elegant thanks also
in part to a four-pod analog gauge cluster, easy-to-reach HVAC and
lighting controls, and a perfectly placed five-speed stick shift.
This particular car features a spectacular upgrade to its sound
system courtesy of an Alpine Double Din touchscreen infotainment
system. With an aux input and wireless Apple CarPlay, this premium
head unit sends sound waves through an in-cabin Infinity amp and
speaker setup as well as a set of trunk (hatch) mounted 12-inch
Kenwood Excelon subwoofers and matching Excelon monoblock amp.
As lovely as that Alpine unit can sound, the music emanating from
under the hood is so much sweeter. A DOHC 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6,
which just had its timing belt, water pump, and coolant hoses
replaced in 2022, sits ready to prove why sometimes there is a
replacement for displacement. Using bigger Nismo 615 fuel
injectors, a set of Z1 side-mount intercoolers, Z1 hard-charge
pipes, and matching Z1 pro tune, this 300ZX makes the most of its
upgraded GT535R turbochargers and feels as though it lives up to
the 500 horsepower figure the turbo kit promises.

Riding on new KYB shocks and struts at all four corners, this 1994
Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo also sports a set of Tien lowering springs
to give it a perfectly insidious stance from any angle. Clean
six-spoke eighteen-inch ESR wheels shod in 255/35ZR-18 Federal
tires barely hide a set of power disc brakes that feature
high-performance cross-drilled and slotted rotors. At the literal
tail-end of this GT car is a 2.5-inch HKS exhaust that uses an
integrated set of cat-less divorced down pipes, complete with
brand-new O2 sensors. A binder full of receipts complements the
included owner's manual and serves to remind us how unique this
twin-turbo terror was when it reigned during the Golden Age of
Imports.
