INCLUDED Conceived and built to replace the four-seat 365 GT 2+2
and 365 GTC at one stroke, Ferrari?s 365 GTC/4 debuted at Geneva in
1971. A somewhat roomier Grand Touring companion to the 365 GTB/4
"Daytona", the 365 GTC/4 featured sleek bodywork, styled by
Leonardo Fioravanti and built by Pininfarina. Rated at 340
horsepower, the 4.4-liter V-12 engine of the 365 GTC/4 was shared
with the "Daytona," but equipped with different cylinder heads,
wet-sump lubrication, slightly lower compression, and six
side-draft Weber carburetors. Despite its Grand Touring purpose in
contrast to the harder-edged "Daytona," the 365 GTC/4 offered
outstanding performance closely approaching its vaunted stablemate,
with 0-60 acceleration in the 6-second range and a top speed over
150 mph. Topping the Ferrari road-car line when new, the 365 GTC/4
was priced slightly higher than the "Daytona" and very popular with
Ferrari buyers.Numbered 14967 and listed in Hilary A. Raab's
"Ferrari Serial Numbers Part 1," this Ferrari 365 GTC/4 is 1 of as
few as 500 produced 1971-72, according to production data compiled
by Ferrari historian Marcel Massini. It was shipped new to the
United States and sold here via Le Mans champion Luigi Chinetti's
official East coast Ferrari distributorship. From the final year of
the brief production run, this 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 is offered
with the odometer reading 33,475 miles at the time of writing.
Features and options include air conditioning, power windows, power
steering, and Cromodora wheels mounting new period style Michelin
XWX radial tires.Finished in Ferrari's signature Rosso Corsa over
Tan leather, 14967 clearly benefits from attentive care and garage
storage when not in use. Accompanied by owner history, the
provenance of 14967 includes the ownership of Thomas E. Coundit,
the late attorney and noted car collector from Sarasota, Florida.
The Ferrari has numerous awards to its credit, including
back-to-back First in Class honors at the Palm Beach Cavallino
Classic Concorso d'Eleganza in 1999 and 2000, followed by the FCA
(Ferrari Club of America) Platinum Award at St. Armand's Circle,
Florida, in 2002, Second in Class at the 2002 Cavallino Classic
Concorso d'Eleganza XI in Palm Beach, and First Place at the FCA
National Winter Meet in Lakeland, Florida. Most recently 14967
earned the Ferrari Owner's Club Class B Award in 2013.Documents
