This stunning tribute 1957 E-Thunderbird, a true black beauty with a rich history, was originally acquired in Alabama by a prominent construction tycoon from Ontario. In the mid-1980s, he entrusted RM Restorations in Chatham, Ontario, with the task of rejuvenating this classic gem. Renowned for their impeccable restorations, RM spared no expense in ensuring this Thunderbird was restored to perfection.
Soon after the restoration, the owner and his wife embarked on a memorable road trip, driving their newly restored car from Ontario to Prince Edward Island, and visiting many popular vacation spots along the way. This Thunderbird remains in excellent condition for driving, showing, and collecting, and is indeed a rare find.
The previous owner fondly remarked, “I chose this car because it drove exactly how it should. You could take it anywhere.” Restored to E-code specifications, this Thunderbird boasts 270 horsepower, an automatic transmission, power brakes, power steering, power windows, and a power seat.
Originally outfitted with a black and white interior, RM and the original restorer opted for a bold
all-red interior, a decision that truly enhanced the car’s appeal.
Included with the car are both hard and soft tops, with the hardtop featuring a mobile cart/stand. A hardtop cover, a car cover, and a beautiful poster highlighting this exceptional example are also part of the package. This 4-owner car comes with extensive documentation and a rich history. Additional features include seat belts (a rare option in 1957), a new exhaust system, brake cylinder, and radiator. The car has been meticulously restored to factory specifications by one of Ontario’s foremost Baby Bird enthusiasts from the Southern Ontario Thunderbird Club (SOTC) and is also recognized by Classic Thunderbird International (CTCI).
