In the long and storied history of Chevy's halo car, each of the
Corvette's eight generations has been a wildly exciting event for
enthusiasts worldwide. One look at this 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L79
Convertible, and it's easy to see why the C3's debut instantly made
the bucket list of an entire generation just a little longer. With
its Burgandy Metallic paint contrasted by its black vinyl
convertible top, this numbers-matching L79 gets an aesthetic
upgrade to its already beautiful exterior with the addition of an
L88 hood and massive side pipes.
Inside, the black vinyl interior features the C3's signature
massive speedometer and tach front and center of the driver, just
beyond the three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel. A five-pod
auxiliary gauge cluster sits atop the center console and displays
fuel, water temperature, oil pressure, battery charge, and even an
analog clock for timekeeping. Although non-functioning at the
moment, this car does come set up with factory air conditioning. An
upgraded Clarion head unit allows for cassette playing to
complement its AM/FM reception.
Under that L88 hood, we find a numbers-matching 327 cubic-inch V-8
topped with a single four-barrel carburetor. Power from that small
block is funneled through a numbers-matching Muncie four-speed
manual transmission before being ushered out of that thunderous
side-exit exhaust.
