What a beauty! Said to have 25,155 actual miles! #'s matching 396!
Real SS with "138" in the VIN. California car, that's where it was
originally built and sold. NCRS shipping data report included.
Fully restored to factory condition with fit and finishes that are
super impressive. From a private collection of GM cars that had the
same owner for the last 30 years. This is the one you are looking
for!
EXTERIOR: Exceptionally handsome! No vinyl top, just nice and clean
metal from the roof to the rockers. Chateau Slate is the second
rarest color from this year. The repaint looks excellent and was
applied with great attention to detail. It was then polished like
glass to a smooth and reflective finish. All the windows were
replaced as well as the rubber seals and fuzzy strips. The chrome
was refinished, and the remaining trim is nice and shiny. Part of
the original SS package is the hood with dual inserts, blacked out
tail panel, and blacked out front grill, they are all in tremendous
shape. The taillights and bezels appear to be original and present
extremely well. It has the perfect stance and is rolling on a set
of reproduction rally wheels with chrome rings and center caps.
They are wrapped in reproduction Wide Oval Redline tires.
INTERIOR: No complaints here! Totally restored with factory
finishes. The bench seats are reupholstered in matching vinyl and
are very comfortable. The door panels and side panels were replaced
and look fantastic. The dash pad, headliner, sun visors, rear
shelf, and carpeting all look new. It has the optional 2 spoke
steering wheel that feels great in the hand. It is equipped with
the factory correct am/fm radio and climate controls. The glove box
liner was replaced and all the interior metal was neatly painted
black. The builder added Sunpro oil pressure and temperature gauges
under the dash to monitor the vitals. The dome light is
working.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: That's pretty! The #'s matching 396 big block
looks picture perfect. It is nicely dressed with correct chrome air
cleaner and valve covers. All the hoses and belts were replaced and
neatly run. It has the original style distributor with vacuum
advance and heat shields for the plug wires. It is equipped with
power steering and power brakes. The alternator and Harrison
radiator both look fresh. The squirters and horns are hooked up.
The bay is complete with factory style inspection marks. The
original Optikleen washer solvent bottle is a really cool touch.
The original cowl tag is still in place. The latch assembly and
hood hinges were restored. The underside of the hood has fresh
insulation and is nicely painted satin black just like the fender
wells and firewall.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Complete and proper! The underside of the trunk
lid and jamb are both neatly painted body color. The weatherstrip
was replaced and reproduction stickers were added. Inside is a
full-size spare tire and jack assembly. Under the mat is all rock
solid and rust-free metal that has a nicely applied spatter finish
paint. Even the latch mechanism was replaced.
UNDERSIDE: The original metal is pristine! The floors, braces,
inner rockers and even the chassis components are smooth as a
chalkboard. It has been prepped and neatly painted satin black. The
steering and suspension front to back have been completely rebuilt.
It has a fresh looking factory type dual exhaust system. The fuel
tank and lines were both replaced. The brakes were completely
rebuilt, lines and hoses included, plus the e-brake is hooked up.
Looking up at the engine it is spotless Chevy Orange and has the
correct starter. The Powerglide automatic transmission also looks
fresh. A restored driveshaft leads back to its original 12 bolt
rear with 3.31 gears. It is detailed under here right down to
assembly line markings.
SERVICE: We inspect each car and we adjusted the turn signal
cancel, adjusted the glovebox latch, cleaned the headlight switch
connection, fixed a loose connection at the regulator and lubed the
left rear window track. All very minor tweaks, this is an
exceptional car!
The quintessential muscle car! This one is done totally right, plus
it has the #'s matching engine as a bonus. I have nothing left to
say, cars this nice and original sell themselves!
For nearly 30 years, I, Jay Grams, have personally written the
highlights for almost every car in our collection. What I provide
is my professional opinion based on my experience with these
vehicles. However, opinions can vary, and I strongly recommend a
personal inspection to form your own view. Our sales team is always
available to answer any questions you may have. One great option is
to request a personalized walk-around video, where we can showcase
the car and share our team's insights. **Our cars are displayed
within a museum setting. If you are interested in a specific
vehicle, please schedule an appointment with a salesperson to view
it. Without an appointment, there is an admission fee to enter the
showroom. If you decide to purchase a car, your admission will be
refunded, and you'll receive a one-year museum membership.
