Another new and exciting vehicle added to our inventory. This 1973 FJ40 was acquired a few months back from a friend who was slimming down his collection. This one is loaded with all available factory options.
This 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is finished in Heath Grey with a white roof over a black vinyl interior and is powered by a 3.9-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. It also has the original PTO winch that is in perfect operating condition. When we acquired the FJ40 it had been sitting for a while so we went through the entire vehicle and did the following upgrades and repairs. All new wheel cylinders, new clutch and brake master cylinders, new brake shoes, new Cooper Discoverer 31×10.5×15′ Tires, new fuel pump, new floor mats, all new fluids, adjusted and set the steering rack stops. We also did the following upgrades, Weber carburetor, GM high energy distributor and ignition system and kept all the original parts which come with the vehicle.
The truck was refinished in Heath Gray under prior ownership, and the fiberglass roof was refinished in Cigna White. Equipment includes a steel front bumper mounted with the original optional PTO winch, dual side mirrors, side steps, and a top-hinged rear window. A full-size spare is mounted on a swing-away carrier at the rear. The interior features front bucket seats that were reupholstered in black vinyl under prior ownership along with body-color metal surfaces, inward-facing rear jump seats, and an optional rear heater in the cargo area. The floor and underside of the tub were sprayed with tinted Raptor liner, and the refurbishment also included refinishing the dashboard, door panels, and center console along with installing a replacement radio, headliner, visors, seat frames, and shifter boots. The original jack and tool roll kit are stored under the driver’s seat. The frame and various chassis components were media-blasted and powder-coated as noted in the restoration article.
