A higher-end, more opulent iteration of the Packard Eight, the 1930 Custom Eight offered buyers storied Packard build quality and performance with a choice of eleven body styles. As part of the company's Seventh Series, the 1930 Packards featured a newly available 'sliding gear' four-speed manual along with now-expected features including an adjustable rear suspension and automatic chassis lubrication. New, sleek, flowing styling by Ray Dietrich ensured each model was a show-stopper.
Of the various choices, the dual-cowl sport phaeton is often regarded as one of the most memorable and desirable. Like many Packards, 1930 examples are delightful to drive or showcase. Offering exceptionally comfortable seating for four, a retractable soft top, and the eye-catching (and very convenient) second windshield for rear-seat passengers, the dual-cowl sport phaeton is certainly one of the most distinctive of the era. Naturally, with such exceptional build quality and Packard's dedication to engineering excellence, 1930s Packards are still a joy to show and drive to this day.
The sensational 1930 Packard Custom Eight 740 Dual-Cowl Sport Phaeton featured here is finished in stunning two-tone Dark Red over Burgundy with a gorgeous Deep Tan leather interior and a matching convertible top. This exquisite motorcar was just released from Clive Cussler's world-class collection and is now ready for its next caretaker after being recently serviced. Because of its high-level, award-winning restoration, gorgeous color combination, and rarity, I personally believe the investment potential of this iconic motorcar will grow beyond your imagination. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best at an investment price!
