The description is rather lengthy but this car has so much to
offer. It would truly take 1/2 a day inspecting this car and going
through all the docs to fully appreciate it. The pictures showing
what they went through just to fabricate the air cleaner is
impressive.
EXTERIOR: Solid Texas car to begin with. The body was stripped bare
and put on a rotisserie to be restored meticulously from every
angle. The body is straight as a laser. A lot of attention to the
fit. The body parts were "gapped" making sure everything is flush
and square. It was painted in stunning Viper red, looks like wet
nail polish. All new glass, properly fitted. The convertible frame
was restored. Has upgraded black cloth top that fits perfectly.
Every piece of chrome is show quality. Rear bumper is notched for
the exhaust. Every piece of stainless trim is polished like chrome.
All new weatherstrips, rubber gaskets etc. Jambs are slick as the
outside. I love the modern version of the SS1 wheels, they are 17
inch cut from billet aluminum. Performance Nitto 450 tires were
custom made with redlines.
INTERIOR: Reconstructed front seats have wide bolsters and back
support but upholstered to look stock. Fabricated duct work
connects to factory outlets. Climate controls updated with
electronics.
Custom made stainless overlays on console and instrument panel. All
new wiring and updated fuse block. Custom stereo system has
bluetooth, Focal speakers, subwoofer, amp and hidden antenna.
Custom electronic gauges. Has Flaming River tilt column with sport
wheel. Features include power windows, power locks using a remote,
factory vacuum gauge and more.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It looks like a mechanical marvel with several
unique hand built components. The workmanship is nothing short of
amazing. It is more then just a pretty face. It has a bored,
balanced and stroked 455 making it a 490 creating 550 hp! Mondello
built the motor, the are the country's leader in building
performance Olds motors. Specs- chryo treated bearings, rings,
crank, h-rods. Has Comp roller cam, Harland Sharp roller tip
rockers, forged pistons, Edelbrock aluminum heads, double roller
timing chain, 8 quart oil pan and high capacity pump. Custom fuel
injection system features a Mondello Posi Flow intake, Fast XFI 2.0
system, engineered fuel injection with sequential port injectors,
machined fuel rails and throttle linkage. The air box is a one of a
kind show piece. Handcrafted aluminum with ram air tubes through
the grill like a W-30. It also features MSD dual sync ignition, the
MSD box was hidden under the dash using a fabricated bracket. The
headers were handcrafted from stainless steel, very impressive
workmanship. The front of the motor has March serpentine belt and
pulley system with billet brackets. Has Type ll power steering with
remote reservoir. Vintage Air system was custom installed, has
polished components. The wiring and plumbing were hidden behind the
fender. A custom radiator support was made for the aluminum Griffin
radiator with dual electric fans. The firewall was made smooth. Has
Hydrotech power brake booster, Wilwood master. Upgraded Deteoit
Speed electronic wiper motor with 7 speeds. Billet hood hinges were
installed.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It has been boxed and custom upholstered. Behind
the panel is the battery with a built in charger. Slick red paint
under the lid and in the jamb. Included are multiple trophys, car
cover, top boot and bindersof documentation.
UNDERSIDE: Wow, nothing short of amazing. Completely custom TCI
built Turbo 400 has a Gear Vendors overdrive making it a 6 speed
automatic. Has break away 2,100 stall torque converter. The trans
mount had to be refabricated, driveshaft shortened and the floor
tunnel completely remade. Baer drilled and slotted discs at each
wheel. Has all new E-brake assembly. In back it has a new Moser 12
bolt rear end with 3.55 posi gears, 35 spline axles and aluminum
cover. The exhaust system is custom fabricated, big 3 inch
stainless pipes, stainless Magnaflow mufflers, resonators,
crossover pipe, and trumpet tips. There's a stainless fuel tank
with internal Aeromotive pump. Fuel lines are insulated. Custom
suspension. In front it has Global West- fat tubular control arms,
1 1/8 inch sway bar. In back it has adjustable traction control,
Koni Red gas shocks. The bottom of this car is painted smooth and
glossy.
Down to the smallest detail- every last clip and screw is pristine.
Fit, finish and function; in and out, top to bottom is outstanding!
Rare car, only 2,049 442 convertibles made. Chevelles are great,
but if you want to be unique this car is it. One of the best Pro
Touring muscle car convertibles in the country!
