Vehicle Description
When it comes to late-model muscle cars from Pontiac, oftentimes,
the Trans Am gets the lion's share of the attention. And while the
top-tier Firebird deserves plenty of credit for being a fantastic
car, one look at this 2004 Pontiac GTO and we are reminded that
although brief, the Goat's fifth generation packed a punch that
should not be forgotten. With just 45,364 actual miles on its
odometer, this GTO's aptly named and original Yellow Devil paint,
along with its upgraded hood fitted with air scoops and extractors,
hint that this way something wicked comes.
Inside, we find a well-appointed Anthracite Black leather interior
sporting plush power seats, power windows, locks, and mirrors. A
four-pod analog gauge cluster is complemented by a triumvirate of
digital readouts displaying supplemental information necessary to
maintain peace of mind along any drive near or far. A trio of HVAC
dials make adjusting temperatures a cinch without having to take
your eyes off the road, which in a car this powerful, will be
coming at you fast.
Under the hood, we find the original LS1 V-8 motor has been
Darton-sleeved and stroked out to a monstrous 434 cubic inches. The
bottom end of this powerhouse is built with a custom-ground crank,
Compstar H-beam rods, and Wiseco forged pistons. Professionally
ported Trickflow LS7 heads are fitted with new lifters and hardened
pushrods, while a set of Kook's long tube headers and matching
Kook's stainless steel dual exhaust completes the package. All in,
this built LS1 has been tuned to a frightening, dyno-proven 587
horsepower.
