Vehicle Description
This stunning 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS is a shining example of why
the first-generation Chevrolet Camaro has such a legendary status
in the collector car world. Chevrolet Motor Division had to act
swiftly to counter Ford's new Mustang that was selling faster than
they could come off the assembly lines. And while the old adage
says, haste makes waste, what the Chevrolet designers and engineers
turned out in just over two years' time was absolute perfection.
With the now classic long hood, short deck proportions, a myriad of
engine choices, and options that allowed buyers to build a car that
was personalized to their tastes, the Camaro's sales took off with
a bang! The beautiful 1967 Camaro RS pictured here for sale is
finished in gorgeous Marina blue over a bright blue interior with
classic Chevrolet Rallye wheels and redline tires. The fit and
finish of this Camaro are excellent, the doors shut with ease, and
all the chrome shines like the day it was new. The trick hideaway
front headlights that are part of the R/S package work excellent,
and snap open with a pull of the headlight switch. On the inside
this Camaro is fitted with bright blue vinyl buckets, tilt wheel,
an oh so period Auto Meter tach on the steering column, Auto Meter
gauges under the dash, and a Retrosound AM/FM stereo that you can
play your favorite tunes on from your phone. The better sound
though is from under the hood. The original matching numbers 327CI
275hp V-8 is backed up with a Muncie 4 speed and a stout 12 bolt
with a 3:31 rear gear. This Camaro features options aplenty with
factory air conditioning, power steering, and power front disc and
rear drum brakes. This true-blue beauty was sold originally by
Courtesy Chevrolet (Stock #2299 on the New Vehicle Inspection and
Adjustment Schedule) in Phoenix, Arizona on November 17, 1967, to a
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond E. Lagergren hailing from San Jose,
California. Mr. and Mrs. Lagergren financed the car through Bank of
America in San Francisco and kept the car for over thirty years
before selling it in 2001. The next owner took the car across the
country to Old Forge, PA where it received a full rotisserie
restoration taking over three years to complete. During the
restoration some liberties were taken, as the original Powerglide
transmission and strato bench seat were removed and replaced with
the buckets and 4-speed. The rear axle which was originally a 10
bolt with 3.08 gears was replaced with the 12-bolt. These changes
make this Camaro a better driving automobile, and a lot more fun.
And unless you decoded all the numbers, you would never know it
didn't come that way. The documentation on this car is simply
incredible! Here almost fifty years on from the original purchase,
this Camaro still has it's original warranty booklet with
protect-o-plate, original owner's manual, original Chevrolet
accessories catalog, and the original 1967 New Vehicle Inspection
and Adjustment Schedule signed by the completing technician (simply
Bob) on September 12th of 1967. This inspection report shows the
original engine and transmission numbers, axle codes, trim and
paint codes, VIN number, and is truly irreplaceable. Also included
are original California registration cards from every year from new
until 2001 in the original owner's name. This shows why this Camaro
is so clean as it was a California car for the first 32 years of
it's life. If you're looking for a museum quality example of the
most iconic generation of Chevrolet Camaro, look no further. This
67' RS will not disappoint, and it can be your's today! Contact
