The 997 was introduced for the 2005 model year and was widely
considered to be a drastic improvement over the prior generation
911, known as 996. While there weren't complaints about the
aesthetic, drivability or performance of the new model, it quickly
began to show some mechanical issues that would question its
long-term reliability. For 2009, a ".2" was released that included
a more powerful engine with direct injection. The 3.8L S engine
produced 385 horsepower and 310-pound feet of torque. The new
design eliminated the IMS bearing and bore scoring issues sometimes
found on ".1" engine.
This fantastic wide-body 997.2 was sold new on September 3, 2009,
by Harmony Motors (Porsche Dealer) in Asheville, North Carolina.
The first owner kept the car for over a decade and added just
14,000 miles. During his ownership, regular services were carried
out, mostly by the original selling dealer. He eventually traded it
back to them in 2021. The second, third and most recent (fourth,
present) owners all resided in California and continued the
tradition of cost-no-object servicing.
