Vehicle Description
2011 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS Convertible
There was quite a buzz in the automotive world when the fifth
generation Camaro took to the streets. In any trim level, they were
new and different and cool, retaining just enough retro styling to
please Camaro fans while introducing modern conveniences and in the
SS versions, a big engine and notable performance. There was no
hiatus between generation five and six and as the Camaro
progressed, first year generation 5 cars have become potential
classics with each passing year.
For consignment, a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS convertible with a
title verified 59,792 actual miles, a 400 horsepower droptop that's
ready for some fun in the sun! Just 11,936 convertible 2SS were
built in 2011 which might sound like a big number but is only about
10% of Camaros built that year.
Exterior
Red Jewel Tintcoat covers this car, a fantastic wine colored hue of
red. The recessed headlights flanking a black grille under a small
scoop cutout makes for an aggressive face while the quarter panels
give a nod to the 1969 model with subtle side vent indentations.
Fog lights and a lower grille recall Trans Am race cars and are an
impressive sight in the rearview mirror. The tall body gives way to
narrow windows and steeply raked windshield, and the tan canvas top
is a wonderful spec, its glass window fully intact. 20-inch 5 spoke
SS wheels grow four inches from the prior generation cars and
instantly create a more modern profile, wearing 245/45ZR20's with a
late 2021 date code. The wide rear view is aggressive as well with
dual, chrome rimmed tail lights under a contoured wing and dual
exhaust that flank an air diffuser down below. Imperfections
include some door edge scratches, chips and scratches on the chin,
and some wheel curb rash.
Interior
Molded black plastic contrasts with glossy silver panels on the
door panels, all in excellent condition. Sport bucket seats combine
perforated tan leather inserts and black sides with white
stitching, while SS is emblazoned on the headrest. Rear 2+2 seats
repeat the pattern and have better than average side and seat
bolstering considering they are back seats and lack the
perforation. A fat leather wrapped steering wheel is sculpted to
the hands, while a purposeful but simple twin gauge pod is in front
and between them, a digital screen read out. The center stack radio
and heater/AC controls while four square gauges are down below,
canted up for viewing, and a solid recall to the first gen
performance Camaros. The radio is an AM/FM/CD unit with a nice
display screen at the top of the stack. In the center console, a
stout automatic shifter, more black leather with white stitching,
all in immaculate condition. Low pile gray carpet covers the floor,
and the trunk is lined in gray cloth and is clean
Drivetrain
The clean engine bay houses the 6.2 liter 376ci LS3 V8, less
shrouded than engine bays to come, and this one rated at 400
horsepower. All that power flows rearward through a 6L80E 6-speed
automatic transmission and turns the rear tires via a 3.27 geared
limited slip axle. Power disc brakes are the only option and are
found front and rear, and Brembos are the brakes of choice in the
front.
Undercarriage
Clean other than some road dust with no surface rust in sight. We
note a drop of oil on the pan and some residual film, but the rest
of the underside is dry. Dual exhaust finds FlowMaster mufflers
before exiting through chrome tips and all is structurally sound.
Independent suspension is provided front and rear with Macpherson
struts up front and multi-link out back.
Drive-Ability
We love our classic Camaros, but modern interiors provide so much
more support and bells and whistles, it's almost a must to have one
of each! Despite the advances made since 2011, this one still feels
modern and relevant and the ride and power on our test did not
disappoint. It gets up and goes and handles turns very well in a
comfortable and capable cabin that's just a nice place to be,
whether a quick trip or long road trip. Other than the radio not
working, all other functions operate as they should. While Classic
Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time
of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be
working at the time of your purchase.
A modern muscle car that would happily oblige to daily use but
could also be reserved for special occasions and shows. And with a
canvas top, the sky's the limit with how much fun you can have, be
it on a stretch along the coast, through winding mountain roads, or
waiting for your vanilla oat milk latte in the Starbucks drive
thru. Nice color combo here and an entire car in great condition.
