This 1971 International Scout 800B is an extremely nice, rust free,
restored Scout from the pacific NW. This is an older restoration
that remains in excellent condition since it was used rarely since
then. This was a super solid Scout to start with so it was a
frame-on restoration that was restored by the owner of a body shop.
We received some receipts for parts and we have the original build
sheet. The body is super straight and clean. When it was painted it
was totally stripped down to bare metal and painted Harvester Red.
It was obviously a professional paint job and the paint still looks
excellent! Everything was painted: the interior, exterior, door
jams, and engine bay. The bumpers, chrome, and trim is all still
really nice. The underside is still all original and very very
clean and very very nice. You can see why they did a frame on
restoration looking at the underside. There are no rust issues with
this rig.
The interior is also in excellent condition. It was all restored:
the seats were professionally redone, new carpet, new
weatherstripping, and aftermarket steering wheel. The dash, visors,
and instrument cluster are original and still really nice. The
headlights, taillights, brakelights, and turn signals are all
working. The gauges all work. It was setup with only a driver side
windshield wiper when it was restored which works. The heater
works. It has a working nice aftermarket stereo. The only item we
found not working was the horn probably because of the aftermarket
steering wheel.
Mechanically this Scout is excellent!! It starts easy, runs strong
and drives great!!The engine is the original 5.0L 304 V8 that runs
strong and smooth with no issues or red flags that we found. The
engine is totally stock. The engine was removed when restored and
they installed new gaskets on the oil pan, intake, front and rear
main, and valve covers. It also has a new 2 Barrel Carb. It also
received new belts and hoses, new alternator, new fuel pump, new
thermostat, new radiator, and new heater core. These Scout 800's
came from the factory with 2 fuel tanks, but this one only has one
installed. We do have the other fuel tank if someone wanted to
install it. The transmission is the Borg Warner Automatic that
shifts nice. It is mated to the Dana 20 Transfer Case and the 4WD
works like it should. The rear axle is a Dana 44 3.31 gears. The
front axle is a Dana 27 with 3.31 gears. He added new leaf springs
when it was restored as well as shocks. There are brand all terrain
tires on the new wagon wheels. Very cool and very rare Scout
800B!!
