The 1988 Acura Legend was a pivotal vehicle for Honda's luxury
division, marking the flagship 4-door sedan was upgraded to the
2.7-liter V6 engine. Originally launched in 1986 to spearhead the
new Acura brand in North America, the Legend successfully
challenged established European and American premium brands with
Japanese reliability and advanced engineering.For 1988, both the
sedan and coupe shared the updated, highly efficient powertrain:-
Engine: 2.7-liter SOHC 24-valve V6 (Aluminum alloy block)- Output:
161 horsepower @ 5,900rpm and 162 lb-ft of torque @ 4,500 rpm-
Drivetrain: Front-wheel drive (FWD)- Transmissions: 5-speed manual
or a dual-mode 4-speed automatic with a driver-selectable "Sport"
mode- Aerodynamics: Low coefficient of drag (0.32 for the sedan and
0.30 for the coupe)The 1988 model was sold in three primary trims
for both the 4-door sedan and 2-door coupe:- Base: Featured power
windows, power door locks, a power moonroof, and cruise control.- L
(Luxury): Added a premium leather-trimmed interior, a 4-way power
driver's seat, and heated exterior mirrors. Honda's innovative
Anti-Lock Braking (ALB) system also became available on this trim.-
LS (Luxury Sport): The top-tier trim came standard with an early
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) driver-side airbag, an advanced
10-way power driver's seat, an information center, automatic
climate control, and a premium Bose audio system.The
