This 1986 Ford F-150 is kind of an Unicorn. It is a Bullnose, it is
a ShortBox, and it is an XL Explorer. We do not find these in
beautiful condition like this very often. We have a lot of original
paperwork including the window sticker, owners manuals, warranty
paperwork, etc. This truck was purchased new in California and
spent some time in Alaska, Florida, and Arizona. The last owner did
some cool upgrades to it and maintenance to make it go anytime
driver for him. The body on this truck is really clean and
straight. It has been professionally repainted in its original
color of Dark Canyon Red. The paint is really nice. All of the
chrome and trim appears to be original and it is in excellent
original condition. The underside of this truck is also really
clean and we found no rust issues with this truck.
The interior is in exceptional original condition. The seat, rubber
floor mat, headliner, door panels and dash bezel are all original
and really nice. The dash has an overlay on it because of some
cracking. The headlights, taillights, brakelights, and turn signals
are all working. The gauges all work. This truck has tilt wheel and
working cruise control. The horn and windshield wipers work. The
heat and AC also work.
Mechanically this truck is excellent and it runs and drives
wonderful. The engine is the original 5.0L 302 V8 that runs strong
and smooth with no issues or red flags that we found. It is a
factory fuel injected engine and appears to be all stock except for
the dual Flowmaster Exhaust that sounds great!! Recently it had a
tune-up, new radiator, belts and hoses replaced, new AC Compressor,
new battery, new valve cover gaskets, and a new oil pan gasket. The
transmission is the E40D Automatic that shifts nice. It was rebuilt
around 15,000 miles ago shown on the Carfax. It is mated to the
Borg Warner Manual Shift transfer case and the 4WD works like it
should. It has a Solo Motorsports front suspension system that was
recently installed...around a 2" leveling kit. It comes with
extended radius arms, Bilstein Shocks, and soft ride springs. They
also did new ball joints at that time. It definitely rides better
than stock. This is all sitting on nice aftermarket aluminum wheels
with newer BFG All Terrain tires size 245/70/16. Sweet
ShortBox!!!
