Vehicle Description
1979 Chevrolet K-10 Long Bed Pickup
"Thoroughly redesigned from stem to stern, the all new third
generation C/K trucks for 1973 proved to be the longest lived
series in Chevrolet's history and the three box styling has proved
quite popular since. Aside from wheels and hubcaps, there really
wasn't much that was round anywhere in the design other than the
body sides that featured a sculpted character line with a central
plateau panel as well as curved side glass, a first on a GM truck."

For consignment, a 1979 Chevrolet K-10 long bed pickup, showing
20,216 miles which are not actual. That said, our consignor tells
us a Goodwrench engine and Jasper transmission went into the truck
approximately 20,000 miles ago, and the truck also benefits from
new brakes, hoses, exhaust, headers, tires, and some interior
components.
Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by
the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws
to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public
highways in your area.*
Exterior
Silver trim around the wheel arches offers contrast to the Dark
Blue coverage on the truck while a bold front fascia is framed in
chrome and features a black, eggcrate grille over a straight
bumper. Two chrome mirrors flare from the sides like elephant ears
while the tail is trimmed with a valance panel in lieu of a bumper
and dual exhaust splitting the center. Heavy duty 15-inch wheels
carry 3x12.5R15LT tires of the all terrain variety, looking beefy
and muscular. The bed is Rhino coated and the paint and metalwork
on the truck are very nice and we could not find any glaring
exterior flaws.
Interior
New door panels have been added in molded black plastic over body
colored steel below, looking fresh and a black vinyl bench seat
also presents nicely with some typical surface rust on the hinge
hardware. Up front, it's 1979 all over with a basic black steering
wheel and canted instrument cluster housing your basic gauges in
textured black plastic. Vent controls and an AM/FM radio tilt
towards the driver on the right and the passenger gets a faux
woodgrain trim panel in front, all under a custom fit dash cover.
Our column shifter shows some surface rust and on the floor, a
stubby range selector rises amongst new low pile black carpet,
under an uncovered black painted roof. The rear window is lightly
tinted and has a sliding window.
Drivetrain
Edelbrock valve covers top a 350ci V8 which our consignor states is
a Goodwrench crate engine, receiving fuel from an Edelbrock
4-barrel carburetor. The bay is clean and the engine fits with room
to spare. A Jasper TH350, per our consignor, is behind it providing
a 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear 12
bolt axle and front 10 bolt axle as needed. Power brakes supply the
stopping power with discs in front and drums in the rear.
Undercarriage
Other than the bright yellow shocks and blue bushings, the
underside is uniformly flat black and mostly free of surface rust.
There are spots of invasive rust in thinner metal including the
inner rocker panel, but all has been painted or coated, so progress
may have been thwarted. But it's under there. The dual exhaust
comes from headers and are also coated in black, including the two
Flowmaster mufflers and tailpipes, and no catalytic converter is
present. Leaf spring suspension occupies the front and rear of the
truck and the height of the truck allows you to inspect things
without a lift.
Drive-Ability
We love K-10's here at the mall and so do our customers! This is a
nice one and up we climb in the cabin of the capable K. The 350
comes to life and we roll this high blue truck onto the test loop
where it provides nice power and straight tracking with a view from
on high that's plentiful. The knobby tires provide a sure grip, and
the exhaust note is pretty sweet, too. All functions, thanks to
their simplicity, function as they should. While Classic Auto Mall
represents that these functions were working at the time of our
test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at
the time of your purchase.
K-10's are a fan favorite! Tough and rugged, they have the American
can do attitude; go anywhere, do anything. High snow? Easy. Rocky
trail? Sure. The Chick-fil-a drive thru? Absolutely no problem.
This one is clean and well sorted and awaits a new rider to take
the bull by the horns and take this K-10 home! Climb on up and get
the truck you've always wanted.
