Single-family ownership for the past 22 years finished in a
desirable color combination of Black with a Red interior. According
to the Certificate of Authenticity, this 356 was originally
delivered in Light Ivory (6404) over a Black leather upholstery.
Optional equipment included Ventilated Chrome Wheels and
Continental Tires.
The black paintwork is in exceptional condition throughout, with
excellent gaps and panel fit. The exterior is equipped with Hella
128 fog lights and a chrome luggage rack. The interior is in
beautiful condition with newly upholstered seats complemented with
German square weave carpets and a new canvas soft-top and
headliner. The VDM steering wheel sits ahead of factory VDO
instrumentation, a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, and a clock. The 5 " x
15" chrome wheels are mounted to Vredestein Sprint Classic 165 HR15
tires (dated 2021) with silver Porsche crest hubcaps. The
undercarriage and suspension have been detailed and are solid and
rust-free.
European Collectibles sold this 356C Cabriolet to Douglas Vernon
DeCinces, a former American professional baseball player. DeCinces
played Major League Baseball as a third baseman from 1973 to 1987
for the Baltimore Orioles, California Angels, and St. Louis
Cardinals. European Collectibles did a comprehensive restoration
for DeCinces, which included a full repaint, chrome plating, and
all-new rubber seals. The undercarriage was stripped to bare metal
and fully detailed. The engine sheet metal was powder coated, the
hardware was CAD painted, and all the suspension components were
stripped and painted. A new interior was installed, including
German carpets, interior and canvas soft top, pad, and headliner.
In the early 2000s, European Collectibles resold this 356C
Cabriolet to the past owner from Laguna Beach, California, who
meticulously cared for it over the years.
Mechanically powered by its numbers matched 1600cc flat-four engine
(Type 616/15) producing 75hp paired to a 4-speed manual
transmission (Type 741) with a four-wheel disc braking system.
European Collectibles recently rebuilt the top end of the engine,
including new pistons and cylinders, rebuilt cylinder heads, and
new rod bearings. Complete with a Certificate of Authenticity,
spare wheel, and 26 years of service history. This is an excellent
opportunity to acquire a well-maintained 356C Cabriolet presented
in a striking color combination and offered with its original
driveline.
