Credited with saving the Morgan corporation, the Plus 8 model was
manufactured for nearly 40-years and was an instant hit. The Plus 8
was designed as an extension of the Plus 4 model and received
varying powertrains during its years of manufacture. Overall, the
Plus 8 was a significant seller in the Unites Stated, commanding
much of Morgan's sales during the 1950's and 1960s. The design of
the Plus 8, credited to Peter Morgan, the brand's owner-chairman,
was always marveled by those who appreciated bold stately
styling.
This right-hand drive 1982 Plus 8 is a fantastic example of a
well-maintained preserved Morgan that drives equally as well as it
presents itself. The car was reportedly purchased new in its U.K.
home market by an American tourist who had the car imported
personally. Around the exterior, the Indigo Blue exterior
(repainted in 2020) pops against the car's reupholstered burgundy
leather interior. The detailwork on this Plus 8 shows the care that
has been taken during its ownership. Powered by a Rover-made
Buick-designed 3.5L OHV V8 tied to a 5-speed manual tranmission,
the Plus 8 is a fantastic car to drive. It is the perfect blend of
classic styling and modern performance. Updates to the car have
included a Moto-Lita steering wheel, Weber/Edelbrock 500
carburetor, aluminum intake manifold with RPI Engineering
installation kit, Cal Cusom finned aluminum valve covers, custom
exhaust and Rutherford tubular rear suspension with AVO front and
rear shocks.
Unless stated otherwise, mileage shown on odometer is exempt and
uknown if original.
