The Korean War comes and ends. A soldier comes home from the
battlefield to celebrate his life and passage through such a
traumatic experience and buys himself a red sportscar - and not
just any red sportscar, but an XK120 Roadster.
This same soldier full of life and future loses his life on the
streets of his hometown in Kentucky. In mourning, his mother puts
the car away in her only garage and lets it sit. A man working a
pipeline through the town catches sight of the nose of a red Jaguar
sitting in an open garage. He inquires and is told the story of the
soldier, then proceeds to make a request to purchase the Jaguar.
But he is turned away.
The pipeline worker returns for five years making a request to
purchase this Jaguar, but the mourning mother keeps turning him
away. The man comes back one more time with his entire paycheck in
his pocket and offers it up in exchange for the Jaguar. This time
he succeeds, and the title is transferred to him. The car is
transported to his home and tucked away in his barn. He has now
become a farmer, and the car quickly becomes a lower priority. The
local pharmacist and car collector hears that a farmer has "some
sort of sportscar" in his barn. The pharmacist/car collector makes
some inquiries and locates the farmer in possession of a red
sportscar.
He reviews the car, and an offer is made. No sale of the car is
desired. The pharmacist persists for ten years, and an agreement is
finally made. The red sportscar is now in a collector's possession.
Restoration is needed, and he seeks out one of the best in the
business to restore the car. He finds JD's British Cars in
Nashville, TN (USA).
Several years of toil and over $100,000 in funds are spent on
restoration of "the red sportscar." The result is what you are
viewing.
The car has 120 miles since restoration was completed. Review the
pictures, and if you are interested in owning this 1952 Jaguar
XK120, contact us at (615) 971-4409. The car is located in Lebanon,
