Show stopping Matador Red 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible.
Extensive frame-off restored prior to 2016 in Matador Red from top
to the restored bottom with only 420 miles since completion.
This stunning restoration was a labor of love for the
restorer who was featured in a classic car publication with an
article titled "Built From Scratch". Every piece of this
car was taken apart before the restoration started and
nothing was put back on the car unless it was show caliber. The
body was taken completely off of the frame and a rotisserie
restoration was started with a bare metal body that was blasted,
smoothed and professionally painted in high quality Matador Red,
base coat/ clear coat and then wet sanded to a mirror finish from
the undercarriage to the top of the body. When the frame was
remounted to the body, suspension, springs, gas tank, new exhaust
and brakes were added. The engine compartment looks
better than new with a smoothed and painted to match engine
compartment. The rebuilt 283 Power Pack engine was painted and
installed, along with a rebuilt Power Glide transmission and rear
end. The engine compartment looks factory correct with
Power Pack heads, painted to match Chevrolet valve covers, Power
Pack 4 barrel carburetor and topped off black oil bath air cleaner.
Nicely optioned with power steering and rebuilt power drum brakes.
Every piece of chrome was new or show quality OEM, including,
bumpers, grill, hood chrome, Chevrolet side trim, hood ornaments,
emblems, fin trim, bullets, head light and tail light bezels and
lenses. The glass was all replaced with new glass including
windshield and side glass, windshield trim, side glass trim and
rubber gaskets at the way around. The builder did not like any of
the the 1957 interior colors and chose to have nostalgic two tone
Matador Red and Ivory, because he did not like the beige. The
interior is immaculate and was fit with new seat covers, buns and
springs, carpet and door panels. The dash was painted to
match, and a new dash, instrument cluster bezel and
gauges were installed, including the new odometer that reads 420
break in miles at this time. No expenses were spared on the heavy
duty canvas power top that looks great in beige. The Nostalgic
masterpiece is rolling on a set of Coker wide whites, steel wheels
and Chevrolet spinner wheel covers for the Iconic Tri- Five curb
