"With a curve-hugging, fully independent suspension, over 1
horsepower for each of its 164 cubic inches of displacement and a
2,500-lb. curb weight, the Corsa was and remains a pony car
alternative for iconoclasts. A dedicated, enthusiastic club scene,
helpful restoration specialists and a bountiful new and used parts
supply make these second-generation Corvairs some of the most fun,
unique performance cars of the 1960s to restore and
drive."-Hemmings
Built in Van Nuys California, this reportedly three owner 1965
Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Turbo Convertible is featured in its
original color of Evening Orchard Metallic (paint code P) with
black interior and a black power operated convertible vinyl top.
Power for this Corvair is provided by an (L87) 164 cubic inch
turbocharged motor factory rated at 180 horsepower. The engine is
mated to a four-speed manual transmission.
With over 247,000 Corvairs produced in 1965, it is believed that
only 8353 of them are Corsa Turbo Convertibles. Unfortunately,
there is not a breakdown of how many were painted in Evening
Orchard. This Corvair was painted over 20 years ago but remains in
good condition. The paint shows well although there are some
bubbles along the lower panels of the car upon close inspection.
This Corvair had been in a collection for 20 years prior to the
current ownership. The car is sporting a replaced top, newer
carpeting and whitewall tires while only showing 48,019 miles.
The 164 cubic inch turbocharged engine in this Corvair was rebuilt
approximately 10 years ago and recently serviced, it comes to a
quick start and runs well with plenty of power throughout the gear
range.
This Chevrolet Corvair features factory options such as tinted
glass, power top, M20 4-speed transmission, 2-speed wipers, padded
dash, deluxe seatbelts, Z01 convenience group and the L87 turbo
engine. Although all the components are in place the ventilation
system is in-operable.
Looking for a classic car that is a little different from the rest,
then this Corvair Corsa Turbo fits the bill.
