For Sale: 1972 Pontiac Firebird in Tyler, Texas

Vehicle Description

This is not a trailer queen/show car. It is a performance orientated driver. Everything on this car was done or is there for a reason. I have been building, driving, auto crossing for 35 years now. I took what I learned over the years and built a car with Power Tour or Drag Week in mind. I am selling because I began this project while living in the city. I am now living in the country with a long dirt driveway and crappy roads. I would rather sell to someone that can keep her in the condition she deserves.

I really like the look of the 73' Brewster Green. 146 were built and half are estimated to still exist. Knowing what I was building, I chose not to destroy one just for the hubris, to say "it's real". I started with a parts car from someone else's project. The price of this car is not a reflection of pedigree, but of build and part quality, reliability, drivability, and ease of maintenance. It handles and drives beautifully! It has the manners of a modern car. No "car guy safe" list of instructions if someone else drives it.

The car runs at a steady 180°. Steering is tight and precise. Brakes work great. Solid car with no leaks, squeals or raddles, all with cold AC blowing at 40°. When you come home and part it in the garage it won't leak all over the floor and have the whole house smelling like gas. I would hand the keys to my mother.

That being said, Pontiac Engines from the 60's and 70's have a performance reputation for a reason. That is why there isn't an LS or whatever else under the hood. There are plenty of LS Pontiacs out there if that's what you want. Nothing against LS, I'm just a Pontiac Guy. The engine makes in the 550HP range. The car weighs 3300 lbs. I haven't had it on the track but can confidently say in the 11's on street tires. The car is also set up for fuel injection. Pre-wired relays and keyed accessories under the hood. Fuel pump trigger wire in the trunk. All fuel lines and filter rated to 300PSI. Also has fused accessory outputs for Power Windows and Locks. Body is ALL metal and the gap and panel fit is excellent.

Paint is base coat-clear coat. Has been cut & buffed. Has not had 300hrs of cut and buff to show car mirror finish. It's as good as any new GM vehicle paint job and better than any original that left the factory floor. Also, side and rear glass have light scratches in them. No delamination or change in color.

I will accept offers, but please do not ask me what my bottom dollar is. As far as I am concerned, I will take the $105k it is posted for. I will NOT entertain trades. Also, keep in mind, if this was yours, would you be willing to take $30k or more off asking price? I doubt it, so please don't ask me to do that either.
