For Sale: 1970 Pontiac GTO in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Want to be the boss? This is how to do it! 1 of only 241 GTO convertibles with the 455 HO motor. This one is Pontiac Historical documented, plus it has #'s matching engine and colors. It was treated to a detailed, body off frame restoration and needs absolutely nothing besides a new home!

EXTERIOR: Rare and repainted it's original Burgundy Metallic Poly color. The paint was laid out with great detail then polished to a highly reflective finish. The Judge side stripe decals add a real pop! The bulging hood with scoops gives it a tougher appearance. Looking down the side of the body it is straight as an arrow with smooth contours and crisp lines. Nice alignment on the doors that close easily with minimal effort. I didn't see any cracks in the rubber bumper and it fits right. The grille, headlights and bezels are all spotless. The rear bumper has a lustrous shine and the taillights look original but in great shape. It has a completely restored black vinyl power top with a glass window. The remaining glass looks good with new rubber seals and fuzzy strips too. It's sitting on a completely restored 14" Pontiac rally II wheels with correct lug nuts. They are wrapped in reproduction Goodyear Polyglass tires.

INTERIOR: Completely refinished and looking sharp! The seats were recushioned and upholstered. It has correct GM seatbelts front and back. The center console and automatic shifter are in fantastic condition. All the door panels and armrests look like new. The visors, dash pad, gauge bezel, climate controls, and vents were replaced. New carpet on the floor and a set of reproduction floor mats. A digital stereo fits in the factory hole. The machine turned trim on the dash is spotless. It has a refurbished tilt column and a nice fat formula steering wheel!

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: What a torque monster! The 455 HO was conservatively rated at 360 hp. The torque is very impressive at 500 lbs! This is the original motor with matching #s. It was totally rebuilt with a stock appearance and looks fresh too. Equipped with air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. Factory dual snorkel air cleaner is correct. The original Harrison radiator and Rochester carburetor were both rebuilt. All the hoses and belts were replaced. The original cowl tag is still in place. The squirters are hooked up and the battery is properly secured with a reproduction Delco topper too. The underside of the hood is complete with insulation. Everything is neatly painted and looks good. This is a highly detailed engine compartment!

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The underside of the trunk lid and jamb are painted body color. It has a reproduction sticker and the weatherstrip was replaced. Inside you have all rock solid steel with a neatly applied spatter finish paint. New mat, tire cover and well liner. A full size spare tire, jack assembly and car cover are included too.

UNDERSIDE: Frame off restoration! Everything looks fresh with a stock appearance. All steering components were replaced or rebuilt. Same for the suspension, all the springs, shocks, bushing and hardware were replaced front and back. Equipped with the F-41 package it has boxed trailing arms and rear swaybar etc. It has power front disc brakes. Fresh dual exhaust system with the correct splitter tips exiting under the rear bumper. The gas tank and all the lines were replaced too. Looking up at the #'s matching 455 HO engine, it is spotless and painted Pontiac Blue. The Turbo 400 automatic transmission has it's 1970 tag riveted to the side and appears to be recently serviced with a new mount and linkage too. Nice looking 12 bolt rear end. The floors are solid and rust free metal all neatly painted satin black.

SERVICE: We closely inspected this car and rebuilt the carb, fixed the reverse lights, replaced the horns, replaced the blower, serviced the air conditioning, replaced a seatbelt cover, gave it an alignment, replaced the lock cylinders and rewired the power top switch.

I think it's priced at a bargain! Only 241 made total, how many exist? This Is a legit and extremely nice example of a convertible GTO 455 HO!
