Vehicle Description
1952 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup
"The versatile Chevrolet Pickup is designed to serve a wide variety
of uses. Durable and smooth hardwood flooring, with flush steel
skid strips, large load space unobstructed by wheelhouses and
exceptionally sturdy end gate which may be held level to support a
long load or dropped to a vertical position to facilitate loading.
Four wide stake pockets permit quick installation of side
extensions for high loads or for canopy top." From the 1952
Chevrolet truck sales brochure
For consignment, a 1952 Chevrolet 3100 pickup truck with a title
verified 100,727 actual miles. For every mile of this truck, $2.00
was spent on its restoration which included, among other things, a
new frame, a new engine, and an EFI system to manage the fuel. Now
a fully functional, high end street rod build that's looking for a
pampering new parent.
Exterior
Garnet red on black fenders makes for a striking presentation,
especially when enhanced with strips of body trim on the front
fender in a unique configuration that makes this truck stand out
from the crowd. Its stance is classic street rod, hunkered down
over 17-inch Cragar wheels and staggered size tires, giving the
truck an aggressive profile that's also sleek, a word likely not
used in '52 to describe the Chevy truck. Bright contrast to the
black is found in the broad crossmembers of the grille and robust
front bumper and out back, it's a bumper and diminutive tail lights
that provide some contrast. The cab is perched on multiple posts as
the five windows open up a greenhouse and the tall windshield
provides light and visibility. Stainless rails and flawless oak
planks dress the bed with show worthy coverage and a single scuff
on black paint is the only exterior imperfection.
Interior
Red vinyl door cards top glossy black paint on the inner doors for
a tidy presentation while the front bench takes stitch patterned
vinyl and surrounds it with black piping, all in very good
condition. We don't see a lot of red steering wheels, but this
truck has one and it's as glossy as a wet piece of candy, in front
a black painted dash with standard gauges and knobs bringing
occupants right back to 1952. Ivory switchgear on the AM radio
helps too, over the center chrome grille and added A/C and heat
system below. Red loop carpet on the floor is also adorned with
black piping and trim and is fantastically clean while a red vinyl
headliner, stitched and riveted, tops off the cabin with
perfection.
Drivetrain
A shiny motor awaits as the 350ci V8 shines with chrome valve
covers and other polished pieces, putting out 350 horsepower
according to our consignor and fitted with an Edelbrock Pro EFI
system to deliver fuel on demand. A Tremec TKX 5-speed manual box
sends power to a Moser 9" rear end with 3.25 gears and TracLoc.
Only the best for this build as power disc brakes are found front
and rear.
Undercarriage
Super clean is how we find the underside with no drips and no
surface rust to speak of. The dual exhaust runs from the headers to
a pair of Xlerator mufflers, then around the 4 link and exiting via
chrome tips under the truck. That 4 link combines with coil overs
to make the back suspension while coil overs are found up
front.
Drive-Ability
The red steering wheel will get your heart pumping and so will the
350 that starts with the turn of the key, no pumping the throttle
needed. The comfortable and airy cab is a nice place to be as we
roll this truck around the loop where it delivers straight
tracking, good handling, and very good acceleration on a solid
platform. All functions operated as they should and this truck gets
an A+ from us! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
This truck represents the cream of the crop and is a finely done
machine. It's got all the right ingredients to grace a collection
or serve as the centerpiece of your prized possessions. No expense
was spared to get this truck just right and the paint alone
reflects the commitment to excellence sought by our consignor. The
only thing left to do is turn the key and drive it home.
