This week Canyon State Classics brings to market a 1981 Volvo 262C
Bertone Coupe in Bertone Azzuro Blue over blacl leather upholstery.
This very rare US Market final year 1981 Bertone Coupe just came in
from California and The CA Pink Slip we received was from the
original female owner who bought it new and handed it down to her
daughter! Somewhere along the line the car had a 94-95 B230FD
Redblock 4cyl swapped into it. The original Volvo-Renault V6 was
not a highly regarded engine and the super reliable mid 90s
powerplant is a huge improvement to reliability on this car. The
swap is extremely well done and looks almost like it was originally
installed in this engine bay! Long term ownership turned over
another set of original 16" wheels which are pictured with the
vehicle interior. 1 Owner California Bertone Coupes don't grow on
trees and this Redblock swap makes this car one of a kind!

The body on the car is in very good condition and was extremely
well maintained. The exterior is finished in its original color of
Bertone Azzuro Blue and is in very good condition. We believe the
car has had 1 previous complete repaint. The body is very straight
with only a few chips or scuffs. There are a few spots on the hood
and roof with very light color fade and have been pictured above.
All glass and lenses and in great shape. The car is riding on the
factory 14" turbine wheels with radial tires all around.
The interior is in very nice original condition all around. The
seats are original and the driver's seat has signs of light wear
from usage but in overall good condition for the age- a testament
to the ownership! All lights, gauges switches, and accessories work
as they should. The trunk compartment is very clean and does have
the original jack, tools, and the other set of wheels. This car is
all there and in excellent shape with all functions and accessories
working as they should. We had the dash professionally recovered as
it had aged from the california sun.
Mechanically, this 262 coupe runs GREAT! The car starts right up
and shifts smooth as silk. These cars are known to be very
affordable to maintain, and this car has a very reliable engine
swapped that runs very well and is healthy. The suspension is very
tight and feels solid even at autobahn speeds above 90mph! The car
was always regularly serviced every few hundred miles and shows it
in how near- flawless the car drives! We put this Volvo through our
shop for an inspection, oil change and replaced the ac compressor
and steering rack.
All in all, this is THE cleanest and nicest 262 Bertone with these
miles in the country. It has been professionally maintained and
truly loved by its previous owners. This Volvo is a fantastic car
for the price and includes every option offered in this car.
