For Sale: 1973 Plymouth Duster in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Rowdy little hot rod! I purchased this Duster and a Barracuda from a collector. After talking with him I knew he was meticulous with his cars. This is a professionally built car with a stack of receipts and lots of documentation. It is an extremely dialed in, detailed car with great looks and bad boy muscle!

EXTERIOR: This is a sinister looking muscle car! The color, scoops, spoiler, stripes and stance! The fit and finish are excellent. The body is absolutely straight, stripped down to bare metal before the 3 stage paint job was applied. The Gunmetal Metallic paint is a beautiful color, laid out evenly and polished to a glass like finish. The painted stripes are under the clear coat and smooth to the touch. All the panels fit beautifully with nice consistent gaps. The door hinges were rebuilt so the doors close easily with minimal effort. The scoop on the hood gives you an idea there's mean lurking underneath. It also has Hotchkins hood pins and optional fender mounted turn signals. It's nicely dressed up with racing mirrors and a rear spoiler. The windshield is new and the original glass is tinted. The chrome trim was all straightened and polished. The front bumper was rechromed and the rear bumper is new. The weatherstrips look great. The stance is tough sitting on 15" American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels with tires that are fatter in back.

INTERIOR: It is flexing some muscle in here too! There's a set of sport bucket seats and in between them is a B&M slap stick shifter in the factory console. Down on the floor the carpet looks great and there's a set of Duster mats. The dash is very clean, it was blasted before paint then outfitted with a new dash pad, repainted trim, a full set of custom gauges and a modern stereo. The steering column was also totally rebuilt. It's a factory a/c car, the controls and vents look great. I love the leather wrapped steering wheel too. The door panels, armrests and handles are all new. The rear seat looks great and was upholstered to match the front buckets plus it folds flat. There's a pair of 6x9 speakers behind it and 4" speakers in the kick panels too. Overhead has a mint headliner, visors and a working dome light. It also has sound and heat proofing throughout.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: An unruly street brawler! Under the hood with a functioning scoop is a performance built 383 that was bored .030 over. Other internals include: sealed power pistons, forged crank, reconditioned rods, double roller timing chain, purple camshaft, new rockers, new push rods, and a Melling hi-volume oil pump. It's topped off with a Proform race series 4 barrel carb, vintage Edelbrock aluminum intake, fuel pressure regulator, and MSD/Mopar Performance ignition system. The Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads have been tricked out for even more power. It also has air conditioning and power steering. Nicely dressed in a chrome air cleaner and ribbed aluminum Mopar Performance valve covers. It's flanked by a set of long tube headers and the squirters are hooked up. NOS Modine 4 core radiator. The underside of the hood, fenderwells and firewall are all painted slick just like the exterior. The original fender tag is still in place.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted as slick as the car. Inside is solid with a custom cut carpet on the floor and neatly installed side panels. The front panel actually opens into the interior. The battery is relocated to the trunk. It's contained in a stainless box, has a battery tender and a marine grade disconnect switch. The jack assembly is in a custom made bag. Everything is sound and heat proofed. A nice car cover is thrown in too.

UNDERSIDE: Below this hooligan's ruffian appearance is an exceptionally clean undercarriage! The steering and suspension were completely disassembled, blasted, and refinished, including in the rear. The springs and bushings have all been replaced and it has upgraded KYB gas shocks. It also has an upgraded brake system with disc at all four wheels. The e-brake is hooked up, and all the brake lines were replaced. It's a great sounding dual exhaust with headers, Flowmaster mufflers and R/T square tips. The fuel system has been replaced including the tank and was also upgraded with an electronic pump. Looking up at the motor it is spotless and has a high torque starter. The 727 Torqueflite automatic has been rebuilt with a Trans Go full kit including TCI clutches and seals and it all looks fresh. It also has a Hughes 2400 stall converter, Right Stuff cooler, Lokar linkage and a new slip yoke. The rebuilt drive shaft leads back to a rebuilt Auburn 8 " rear end with 3.91 Sure Grip gears and Yukon axles. The floors and frame rails look to be rock solid with factory undercoating that is looking fresh with dusted black paint. Everything is neat and tidy!

SERVICE: We ran this through our shop and serviced the radiator, transmission, blower, horn, and center console.

This troublemaker should be arrested for disorderly conduct! If you got an inkling to misbehave, this Duster will cause a whirlwind everywhere you drive!
