On March 9th, 1964, Lee Iacocca made himself an eternal place in
American automotive history with the release of a car that would
reshape both the design and performance expectations for all
automobiles sold within the North American for the next sixty
years-that car was called the Ford Mustang.
Details about our 1965 Mustang For Sale:
We are delighted to offer for sale a wonderfully restored 1965 Ford
Mustang Coupe finished in classic Wimbledon White over full
Palomino vinyl standard trim interior! This sharp, classic Mustang
is powered by its original C-code 289ci V8 engine, C4 automatic
transmission, and economy 2.80:1 rear axle ratio. Options also
include wire spoke wheel covers, radial 1" whitewall tires
measuring 195/75R14, windshield washer system, chrome roof rail
drip moldings, side louver accent and rocker moldings, single
outside mirror, rocker panel moldings, upgraded AM/FM/cassette
audio system with rear speakers and GT-style front disc brakes!
This particular Mustang received a comprehensive cosmetic and
mechanical restoration in the early 1990's by a Mustang specialist
that included a complete repaint of the exterior, all new interior,
and an overhaul of all major mechanical components. It was proudly
shown alongside his similarly equipped 1965 Mustang Convertible in
his garage. Special attention to detail was a high priority while
making subtle upgrades for either safety or improved performance.
This included the addition of an Edelbrock Performer 289 aluminum
intake and 600cfm 4-barrel carburetion system and the
aforementioned disc brakes. Sadly, this enthusiast owner was bitten
by age and elected to sell his Mustangs in 2021, where they would
remain together with a new enthusiast owner for the next 3 years.
Driven infrequently, they continued to remain in outstanding
condition, just awaiting some regular maintenance when acquired by
the St. Louis Car Museum in the Spring of 2024.
Upon arrival at the museum, this Mustang would be thoroughly
serviced to include complete fluid flushes on all components, new
battery, new 3-core radiator, new whitewall tires, rebuilt
carburetor with new electric choke, fresh fluids & filters, spark
plugs, plugs wires, cap/rotor, drive belt, new fuel pump, idler
arm, and wiper blades. It performs magnificently and we are proud
to have it in our collection! It will come with recent receipts
documenting our mechanical contributions, full-size spare tire with
cover and new trunk mat, an original jack & racket lug wrench along
with storage bag.
This car hails from the Dearborn, MI production plant and sold new
through the Kansas City district sales office giving indication it
was likely in the Missouri area its entire life. Considering the
age of the restoration, it survives wonderfully solid and shows
exceptionally well, matching its condition with superb driving
qualities! A true testament to the excellence delivered by the
restorer many years ago.
