A fully restored VW KOMBI “Clipper”with 2,180 Shop Man Hours invested in restoration from start to completion. Restored at American Standards by American management and sales in an Award Winning Custom VW Transporter shop. NOT a standard hobbyist garage build.
"Acerola" was Imported in 2024 from Santos Brazil Port to Charleston SC in an enclosed shipping container and garage kept under a custom car cover since arrival.The bus was totally restored in a new, professional Custom/ Classics shop in Maua, Sao Paulo. with modern restoration protocols by dedicated full-time auto professionals.
This VW Kombi "Acerola," is in a class by itself with added interior wood and upholstery features.and numerous upgrades not typically found on this class of classic vehicle.
Kombi “Acerola” is a show quality bus that has towing performance and can be configured for sleeping or standard seating for passenger touring at U.S. highway speeds. Built as a daily driver and not a trailer Queen.
Similar builds in American Custom shops for time and labor on a completed build like this are $80,000-$110,000 US dollars completed. The cost advantage for this build is due to the cheaper labor cost and parts in Brazil. QUALITY NOT COMPROMISED.

The Brazilian Kombi Clipper is the hybrid cross-over between the early Type 2 “OWL” and the later Type 2 “Breed Loaf”or "Bay" with a modernized larger front windshield. This bus was manufactured to VW specifications in the VW San BernardoVW Factory outside of Sao Paulo Brazil. The factory has been in existence since 1957. This model of VW Transporter is unique to Brazil and was only produced for 4 years while transitioning to the modern VW Type 2 "Bay" window so familiar to consumers in the US market..Before sliding doors and larger windows.
"Acerola" has 15 Windows, including a rear Safari window, with 4 pop-out windows for excellent light and ventilation.The salon side doors open “ barn door style”and an added ragtop vinyl sunroof from the driver compartment and over the passenger seating area. This provides complete overhead sunshine for all passengers to give the bus excellent light and ventilation. Pop up windscreen deflector included with ragtop.
" Acerola" was taken down to” bare metal”,and fully rust repaired. Metal improvements were executed where required, with a complete interior/exterior re-paint and underbody detailing and protection. Rust removed, with Bondo minimized.

A performance enhanced, original re-built engine developing 70 HP to give the powerplant a 30% overall power upgrade with a “Brasilia” 4th gear, speed enhanced, transmission to provide an 85 MPH documented speed on a test Dynamometer. (This transmission is Brazil’s version of the “ Freeway Flyer” transmission sold in the U.S.) A completely rebuilt transmission, fully disassembled with new and refurbished gearing and hardware.

Upgraded,ORIGINAL ENGINE has electronic ignition, Dual port intakes, Custom "show grade" polished aluminum pulley wheels , detailed engine with two batteries and battery cut-offs. The NEW Second battery powers the installed, and externally vented diesel heater ignition, as well as LED wash lites and a 120V power port plug and USB connectors.
NEW Insulated interior cabin with a remote controlled independent diesel heater offering 20 plus hours of diesel heating on 5 Liters of diesel fuel.( Digital display.)
NEW Electronic cockpit instrumentation with changeable color lighting. Speedo, Alternator light...RPM gauge, fuel sensor tank indicator, trip and complete mileage...ALL DIGITAL.
