For Sale: 1971 Buick Skylark in Abington, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

IMPECCABLE Skylark Custom convertible from the year 1972. The last year for this popular body style AND the convertible model. It's said that this car was purchased new by a retired school teacher as a gift to herself and was treated like royalty until she could no longer drive it.

Finished in it's code correct Antique Gold, there's just enough metallic flake to really allow this car to pop in the sun. Almost sporting two personalities. Shade vs sun. The pictures just do not do it justice. Professionally painted, wet sanded and buffed to a gleam you'd swear was a mirror. Just fantastic. There does not appear to be any body filler present anywhere.

The black bench seat interior (which I personally prefer over the buckets.) is all original right down to the carpet! Shows the care this car received over the years. Everything works with the exception of the original 'Sonomatic' AM radio. The dash and all interior panels have never been cut to add a modern stereo we so often see. The interior, even for being 53 years old shows amazingly well.

Powered by it's original 350 V8 2V engine, the odometer literally just turned over and is showing 9 miles presently (100,009 to be exact). It's most current owner is a fastidious guy and wanted everything right.  Over the past 12 months he's spent over $15K doing the following....

- Rally Sport steering wheel installed.

- Complete suspension rebuild including all shocks and springs upper and lower rear control arms.

- Motor mounts

- ALL brakes, hardware, hoses, ect...

- HEI electronic ignition kit.

- Aluminum radiator

- COMPLETE transmission rebuild. Including flywheel and shift kit.

- Driveshaft and u-joints

- COMPLETE new dual exhaust system.

- NOS carburator. Rebuilt to current specs.

- Fuel pump

- 10 bolt POSI rear end rebuild with new axles and 323 gears, ect..

- COMPLETE convertible top including the correct rear GLASS window. A close to $4K receipt alone!

- BFG Radial T/A's all around.

- Rear bumper swapped out with the cleaner, 1971 style (The original 72 bumper was scratched.)

So you get the picture. You are looking at one of the finest examples available. These A body GM cars from 68-72 and as popular as ever and will never go down in value. In fact, they continue to go up. They are the perfect classic to own. Extremely drivable, easy to repair and get parts for. Not too big or too small. Just right. I'm a huge fan myself and especially of this car so you better buy it before I decide to keep it!
